I recently changed my mailing address via email because I will be moving to Toronto to wait out the remaining time on my passport request (Outland PR Family Class). Subsequently I check ECAS to make sure there were no mistakes on the address but when I got there I noticed they had changed the mailing address correctly including the number, street, postal code and "Toronto, ON" but "United States of America" was also included as the last line of the address.

I was wondering what all of you thought about sending an email asking for them to change the USA part to Canada or if doing this may slow down the processing of our application?

Really, we are wondering if we should bother changing.  We have some concerns:
1) If we keep the address as it appears on ecas currently will we get important mail still? (we've mostly been getting emails)
2) If we do send an email to update the address will this cause a delay in the processing of our application?

(We were recently transferred from Buffalo to the New York office in order to "expedite" the processing of our application.)

Thanks in advance!

I wondered the same thing, but many people on this forum have said that they have changed there addresses to a Canada one with out problems. I talked to someone at CIC and she said there are internal policies preventing requests from impeding the immigration process. I took that to mean the officers don't even really look at that. I would change it to Canada. But that's just me.

Well, I just sent off my passport today...that is a scary thing to do! I can't even count how many times I checked, doublechecked, even triplechecked the address and making sure I did everything correctly, but it's done! Now we wait, the email said it could take 15 business days before I get it back, so I'll use that time to start packing up my house (which is going to take a LONG time.) Because our timeline went super fast I am way unprepared and have lots of things to do before I can land Sad

Haha, USA2BCCANADA I did the same thing when I mailed out mine. I triple checked everything and still felt super paranoid that I had forgotten something after I left the post office.

I hope so too... if March is getting finished then I am sure April and May are soon too!  Even if there are some speedier ones from later months!

It is so frustrating!

my husband just got the receipt for RPRF fee we paid... it took less than 1 month to get the receipt by mail and they said that Buffalo is notified as well... so the RPRf doesnt really take that long to process. Grin  (btw they didnt request it to be paid)

LOL I did the exact same thing.  The post office clerk was waiting waiting waiting.  I checked it four times and kept looking inside the envelope to check that everything was there.  And on the way home I searched through my purse to make sure the pics weren't still in there somewhere.  Letting go of that package was NOT easy.  Now I wait again but it's the little wait this time. Soon...very soon all will be over.

Still consider yourself lucky i filed before you and started process before you and we are still waiting.  All cases are different, that we know but it's always painful to see people getting it before you when they had to wait less and lately i saw too many of those.

I understand the frustration - I'm very thankful that my CIC process has been shorter than some others here on the boards.

I guess I tend to think of my process starting early last year.  We were married Feb of 2009, Medical Exam in April 2009 and our FBI request was out around that time - and expected back shortly.  After dealing with lost fingerprints, etc, etc...I finally received my FBI cert in February of 2010 (took the better part of one year to sort out).   Submitted our app (finally) to CPC-M in March 2010.  So thinking back, I've been waiting since Feb '09 to get to this stage. :/

The letter they sent you, your passport and the pictures - and LOTS of reading material - you aren't allowed any electronics in the room while you wait...

I HAVE NEWS!!!!!!!!

I received my PPR via E-mail today!!!  I have until October 20th to submit my passport.  I'll be traveling to Buffalo in the very near future to take care of the last step!  I'm so excited about this, as is my wife!

Any tips on what I should be bringing, other than the 3 requested photos?

Ok...this may be a really stupid question.  As I have said before, we have not filed yet, all of the paperwork is gathered here, have printing to do when he gets here in two weeks, and it will be sent in.  Reading through all these posts has been extremely helpful for me, and very encouraging.  What exactly is the AOR that everyone is referring to???

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Stumpedmom - AOR stands for Acknowledgement of Receipt. It's the letter that the visa office (Buffalo) sends you once they start processing your PR application.
This occurs after sponsorship approval from Mississauga.

So I guess that I over paid CIC by $100. They sent me back a check for the total that I was over. The payment date reads June 03, 2010 which is right when my sponsor was approved. But we didn't get it in the mail until like two weeks ago. My hubby forgot to tell me about it, and it almost went into the shredder until I came across it! Thank goodness! But that's the only thing I have heard back since Aug 02 when I went in process.
