nightmare...
I got my PPR a month ago, sent photocopies of my passport (right away a month ago too), and now (while  I was thinking I'd receive my COPR any day in the mail now), I've just received an email from the VO requesting a criminal check from Canada to continue the processing of my application...(I am currently visiting in Canada - but visa exempt)... so I guess I am not done...
...

So even after ppr they are adding more stipulations?HuhHuhHuhHuh Really CIC this is beyond a joke now, this should have been requested waaaaay before now. So sorry calissons  Sad

Yeah I am kind of lost here... Maybe it's because they put a visitor record on my passport last time I crossed the border (I have quite a few Canadian stamps on my passport... and the border agents said the visitor record allowed me me to stay for 8 months  in Canada - I quote: "until you're are done with PR so you don't need to leave the country while it's processing" -  but I didn't need it because I am leaving Canada in less than 6 months anyway...).

I just don't understand... aren't we allowed to visit our spouses while our file is being processed? what did I do wrong... I was so happy...

About you moochops, I was checking the past updates, and I am sorry you have no good news either...

Hey guys

A email from buffalo saying an initial analysis has been completed and personal interview is required. This email I got a month ago. Just curious what's included in initial analysis, I mean is everything done like background check and all just the decision on genuine relationship is pending?

Any ideas?

Just a heads up, I sent an email to Buffalo through their website yesterday and got a response this morning, even though the email bounced yesterday when I sent it. So they must have people there tying up loose ends so to speak.

It may be another CIC office taken over the Buffalo mailbox?

You may want to try ordering GCMS to see if there is any clue.

Canadian immigration shouldn't need anything from the US immigration, unless...

1) you're doing flagpoling then they would expect to see a 'refused entry' note from the US side, or,
2) if you are importing the car then you have to export it from the US side first and hence document about the export.

I have a quick question. At the time of landing in Canada, do we need to inform the US immigration as well and are we suppose to take any forms from the US immigration and submit it to the Canadian Immigration?

It was from the Buffalo address and they said that our documents were being prepared and should be sent today from the Buffalo office. Just thought I'd put it out there to let people know that their passports haven't been completely forgotten about.

Buffalo has had my passport since May 3rd and my medicals expire in two-weeks. Given that we are now able to extend our medicals and that the Buffalo office is closing, does anyone have a suggestion about how I should convey to CIC that if they don't send my passport back in the next few days that I need to extend my medicals? I've emailed CPP-Ottawa, but I doubt they will ever respond.

My experience with the medical extensionwas that I contacted my MP and she looked into it.The answer she got was that I had to have proof of being in Canada since I got my medicals done.So I had to send them copies of my work visa, bank statements, and stamps in my passport. They said if I wouldnt have been in Canada the whole time that I would have to redo the medicals.

I am sooo sorry! My heart goes out to you! I don't understand this. Why can't they do the check themselves? Don't they have access to their own systems? I am so sorry!! Let us know if you hear more of a reason!

Oh, Ambber29 Sad   I'm sorry to hear that.    Did they provide any info on when they are rescheduling it for?  Hopefully very soon ...

If you order your CAIPS/GCMS notes, you can see notes indicating what triggered the interview.   It may be worth exploring if you can submit any info to address their concerns.   Good luck!   I hope this gets sorted out quickly.

ETA: just saw the letter Sad

BTW, there's someone over on the newer US forum - link at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/us-outland-applicants-thread-t106068.0.html;msg1498649#msg1498649 - who also has an interview scheduled.   You may want to head over and compare notes with AW2011 and share info given all the changes.

How come you didn't do your interview in Seattle to begin with Huh I believe there's an option where you can request the interview to take place.

The interview was conducted by whichever VO was processing your file.  They explicitly stated they couldn't promise it would be the closest one Sad

Hopefully it will be rescheduled for them in Seattle, though Smiley

I second GOGOGO's suggestion to get your CAIPS/GCMS notes.

The background check and security check usually aren't finalized until the very end.   The interview is either means you were randomly selected for a QA check or that they have questions on your eligibility (often genuine relationship but could be something else).  The notes in your CAIPS/GCMS notes should give you a more detailed sense of the purpose of your interview.

The link to get CAIPS/GCMS notes is available at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/index.php?action=post;quote=1492187;topic=106068.0;num_replies=111;sesc=4a0d80b73b59cabd3da9cb18e23b3f5e

There's also a new Bulletin indicating that visa officers can now request an 12 month extension if the application processing is ready for approval witin 15 months of the original medical exam and the only thing stopping the application from final approved and PPR is the expiration of your medical results (or ability to reasonably land within the initial year-long validity).

I posted the bulletin over at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/medical-exam-validity-extension-for-additional-12-months-new-cic-bulletin-t106229.15.html.  Someone already reported using it to request that the VO request the extension (after they requested a new medical exam) and they agreed to do so  Grin
