*** BREAKING NEWS *** The Bulletin was just posted. Cases currently in process in Buffalo will be completed by Ottawa. "Applications in-Process Applications currently in process in Buffalo will be transferred to the Case Processing Pilot Office – Ottawa (CPP-O) for processing. All original supporting documents accompanying applications in Buffalo will also be transferred. Those who have already sent documents to the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, New York do not need to re-send them." Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob425.aspdoes this mean Buffalo wont be issuing PPRs this week at all and now we have to wait for Ottawa to organise everything and contact us??? Im travelling on Sunday and was so hoping to have my ppr before then to make my re entry to canada easier just when you think you might be getting close to the end, something else comes up!

As far as I understand it, as of today when they made it official, Buffalo will no longer be functioning at all for anything. So based on that... I wouldn't put money on it. I'm sorry

I feel as though we are in a bad dream. It took a year (minus a week) to get PPR, and Buffalo has had my husband's passport for 3 weeks. Now what? Are they going to lose his passport? Will it get sent to Ottawa now? Unbelievable.

I'm sorry Well at least I can stop checking my emails for - ooooh about 6 months until they get their arses into gear wherever the heck my application will end up. I'd put money on ppr coming quicker if it were being processed on the moon

From my understanding, they will either shift it to NYC OR they will finish it up and send to you since all you need is a stamp and paperwork really.

I'm in the exact same situation and am about to come up on the year anniversary of my medicals. It takes at least two-weeks to lay people off, so I assume that will give them time to send passports back to people rather than to Ottawa. While they can justify holding onto paperwork for all eternity, a passport is a different story.

So, folks, it looks like the media got one thing wrong in their sneak preview. For permanent residents, CPP-O (Ottawa) is going to be processing applications going forward (existing, per the Bulletin I posted earlier, and future ones per the CIC List of Countries and Corresponding Canadian Visa Offices. So, for new applicants that haven't sent their app yet: select CPP-O as your visa office (not Buffalo, not NYC). And, now, we know.* * The only question left is interviews (regional offices make sense, but no confirmation yet).

These are just some thoughts based on the information available, what I've read, and my experience. I am not an expert; if you want the facts, cic.gc.ca has a wealth of information. Good luck with your application! Hope you have a wonderful day *smile*

Note that the link from the CIC website to the CPP-O office seems to be broken (it was for me, at least). Here is the correct link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/ottawa.asp

Thank you I had found it elsewhere when I posted their contact info upthread. Maybe it's on purpose to avoid a deluge of faxes and e-mails

Does anyone have any information as far as what CPP Ottawa's processing time was like prior to the latest news bulletin? I mean, I'm sure we will encounter delays as a result of the transition, but prior to this was it an efficient office? Thanks for any feedback anyone can give!

Just wondering if anyone's in the same boat, My husband submitted his passport May 9 and had his status updated online on Sunday to "decision made", any idea if the envelope will be slipped in the mail now, instead of being transferred to Ottawa and than shipped back to the USA?

Hey guys quick question, bit confused. after my husband lands hopefully next week, He will need to go back to the us to finish any lose ends there and is waitng to hear for his job here. I know he can go back but my question is he wont have his PR card for weeks, border says they will give him a piece of paper for travelling, does that mean he can renenter canada later? I read that he would need his PR card to come back? just trying to find out and also how long can he leave after landing before he must come to canada? Thanks for any info.
