Yes, and it's about 2 hours from Toronto.  I like crossing there because 1) it's scenic - overlooking the Niagara Falls, 2) officers are generally friendly, 3) free of trucks and less traffic than Lewiston/Queenston crossing which GPS normally send you to.

Rainbow Bridge crosses from Niagara Falls, NY to Niagara Falls, ON.  Also, I think the only Buffalo crossing that you can walk across.

Sorry, this is probably a dumb question but I searched and somehow didn't find much.

Anyways, my wife and I mailed our application 4/20, and Mississauga received it 4/23 (you can add that to the spreadsheet GOGOGO).  I know that it takes them ~80 days or whatever for them to approve her as a sponsor, but what is the first approximate date of contact we can expect from them?

Also, do we only receive a Client ID after she is approved?  When is the ID issued?

Thanks for answering something you guys have probably already answered 10 times Smiley

They don't contact you usually until it's been approved(the first stage I mean) and telling you where it's going (IE Buffalo). That's also when you would normally get the ID.

I'm so glad this is all over now for you, NYQUE!  Thanks for sharing your story and it definitely helps a lot for all who is going through the same process.  Good luck with your family, your job and everything!

...It's been a while since I have been wanting to share my interview experience and landing afterwards (yes finally landing!)...

Spreadsheet is updated.

As parker24 said, when they approve your sponsorship, the sponsor will be notified of the Sponsor's UCI, Application File Number and the Visa Office that is going to process your case.

The '~80 days' number is just an estimate by CIC based on past experience, and it changes based on workload and complexity of individual cases, etc.  You can however base on that or take a look at the spreadsheet (Column D - Column B) to 'guess' what date you may possibly get the approval.  For example, last update was elokpo who filed the application on 16Feb and got sponsorship approval on 9May, ie, in about 3 months' time.

The medical receipt you need to send along with the application is a form IMM1017 (Medical Report - Section A, COPY 2 - PERSON EXAMINED) which should have been given by the DMP after you've done the medical test.  It has a barcode and a photo of yourself at the top right, stamped.  If you were not given that form, it's DMP's fault and you should try calling them and request them to first fax/email you (to be safe) then mail you the COPY 2 form.  If the form is lost in mail, you would still have the faxed/email copy that you can print off and send it with your application.

Good luck!

Next, I'm going to call the doctor about getting a faxed signed Appendix C.  I also wondered if I provided the xray cost receipt and the Medical exam official receipt where I paid for everything and which exams/blood work (had to pay extra for glucose because I'm diabetic), attached to Appendix C (even if not signed), would that be enough in case I can't get signed?

*headdesk* They never give me that... I saw a form that had a photo of me stamped in the paperwork.  I'll have to call them Monday.  This bites. :\  Thanks GoGoGo, you're a big help, I wasn't sure what to do. Sad

It'd be better to send the original if you can get it, but if somehow you can't get it then a photocopy should be better than nothing and you can write a note in your application to explain the situation.  The key is CIC/VO need to know you've done medical and that they can look up your medical result accordingly when they need it later in the process.
Good luck!

From what I've read in the forum, the border officers at US/Canada land crossing tend to be easy on people from visa exempted country with PR process underway.  However, those people normally show strong ties to their home country/residency.

As you have been in Canada for so long and you just have a young baby borned there, I presume it will be difficult for you to show your ties to your home country.  If that's the case, then I totally understand your risk of being rejected into Canada.  You may well just stick with your original plan.

Have you considered ordering GCMS to see how your file is doing and what steps are still outstanding?

So I ended up booking a flight to Ireland in June and just hoping I get my PPR before then. I ended up calling Immigration Canada and spoke to a woman who told me that she has never heard of a case where someone who had flown into canada had been turned around and put back on a plane and that most likely they would question me and issue me with a temporary visa. Im hoping this is true because I will be travelling with a 5 month old baby! However I just read somewhere that entering the US after overstaying in Canada may cause them to deny me entry to the US and I have a connecting flight in New York. Does anyone know anything about this or has been in this situation?? im really starting to worry!  and yes I have considered ordering GCMS but that takes 6 weeks? Im really hoping to have my PPR before then lol!
