Thanks GOGO and Gypsy. It's nice to know I have as long as I want. Maybe I'll just gradually bring everything over rather than renting a Uhaul.
I went and got my SIN today. That was easy as well. If you bring your marriage certificate they will change your name if anyone was wondering.

For outland Family Class for Jan 1, 2011 - Dec 31, 2011 @ Buffalo RPC: 20% 5 months 30% 6 months 50% 7 months 70% 10 months 80% 12 months Approval rate: 95%

If you also want to know something interesting is, the distinction of applicant's destination (as in filing Federally or for Quebec) and the effect it has on processing time, also for the same criteria (FAM Class, Jan 1 2011-Dec 31 2011, Outland):
Federal (all provinces except Quebec): 20% 5 months 30% 5 months 50% 7 months 70% 9 months 80% 12 months
Approval rate: 95%
Quebec: 20% 6 months 30% 7 months 50% 9 months 70% 13 months 80% 17 months
Approval rate: 91%
I think that's enough of a distinction to merit for anyone doing timelines from here on out to note the users destination (as in Federal or Quebec) as often as possible, since there's obviously a disparity in processing times depending on said destination.

Can anyone who landed please share what size of stamp/notes the POE officer put in your passport please? If it's a standard entry stamp then I'll go ahead with copy of my current passport for the issuing of COPR. Refer to my other thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/passport-request-but-passport-will-expire-in-6-months-and-no-blank-page-left-t101539.0.html;newThanks in advance!

In the 'olden' days they would just cross off the visa and stamp over it, then staple COPR over it or on the page across from it (you can always unstaple it once you have PR Card to store in the safe deposit box or somewhere secure). Can't confirm nowadays (since they got rid of visa counterfoil for visa exempt countries). If I had to venture a guess, I'd say I doubt it'll be anything more than a standard entry stamp (I assume you're visa exempt since you didn't have any extra pages IIRC). Hopefully someone that's landed this year since they don't issue visa foils chimes in soon and you can finalize your landing plans. How exciting to be at the end of the process!

What I would do is call the CBSA yourself at the place you'll land (I once called the CBSA at Fort Erie before getting my PPR telling them my situation with trying to renew visitor status to which they were very helpful), tell them the situation, get an answer, and get the name/info of the person who answered it. They should be pretty straight forward and if polite willing to help you out unless it goes against some policy. I was not given the PR entry stamp on the same page as counterfoil, but I also had a newly renewed passport with a buttload of pages. I also remember reading about them no longer issuing visa counterfoils on the passport for approved PR.. not sure if that's still happening but it was shortly after I landed I read this.

Any help would be great Congratulations on the COPR and your crystal ball Yes, he can land and go back to the US. Canada's rules are very different from the US's in this regard - he can land for immigration but not for customs, medical coverage, etc. If he chooses not to become a resident for customs purposes, your issue is going to be the B4 (if it's not ready yet by the time he lands) since you may have some convincing to do when you go up next time and you don't turn it in at that time. Technically, he only needs to turn it in when he goes with the intention of residing in Canada 12 months but from speaking with CBSA folks (they are very helpful if you call them, btw) they advised us not to postpone turning it in if at all possible to avoid a bunch of questions in the future since it's a gray area ... he may not have intended yet but already had the intention to move and made plans to and the call centre said some agents are very strict with this based on calls they get. Alternatively, you could also do the B4 in your name for jointly owned goods if you are also moving up to Canada after an absence of 1 year and everything is >6 months old (if cars, for example, are jointly titled) with no disadvantage for any items valued less than 10,000 CDN.

So you think it will be easier for him if he brings the B4 form filled out at the time he lands? Do you think he could do the whole import/export car thing at that time too and then take the car back to the US? I know you only have 45 days to pass inspection but that would be enough time for that... Its funny how all of a sudden I have so many questions...its not like i didn't know this was coming lol

Hello, I have a question regarding landing and I hope i can get an answer. I will be landing in about 2 weeks and I have done my list to follow form. When I land I will not have much things. I will be in Canada for about 3 weeks after I land, however I will be coming back to the USA with my sponsor for about 2 more months to wrap things up here (housing, jobs, etc.) On my goods to follow list I have a lot of things, including my car which I will be using to land (will be driving into Canada). My question is if there will be any problems driving my car to land and going back to the US for a few months and after going back to Canada with car when I'm ready to settle??? Greatly appriciate an answer!
