Passport requested!!!

Got the email today  Tongue

Sooooo happy!!!

Congrats!Just noticed your medical exam must have expired. Did you get an extension for landing? (Is is possible when you're outland?--> I see very conflicting things on forums. It's all over the place. Would really appreciate some clarifying answer on this...

Thanks. And congrats again..

To AWOR
Moonlightprancer, congrats on PPR. I'm curious what your letter stated (send passport/passport copy) because mine (LA) noted *only* the passport could be sent. There is absolutely no consistency to any part of this process.
Isn't Moonlightprancer talking about COPR and not PPR? Because people from visa-exempt countries just send photocopies. Or maybe I misunderstood something.

Kiri:It seems great... I am not sure they care about the receipt for the FBI prints though Roll Eyes... I smiled about the cat's  receipt Grin (but it's cute!) but it seems like what people send.  For your phone bill and stuff, it's normal that you can't go back for ever, and they understand it.

Are the people who are still waiting in backlog the ones who didn't send in the RPRF with the initial application? I'm just wondering why there's such a huge difference. It seems like if Buffalo has to request even one thing your file is tossed aside and not looked at until months later.

I don't mean to pry but has this thread ever looked into why some people get approved faster than others? Is there significant education, work exp, age, or something that maybe fast tracks some people over the others?

Some PPRs state copies are ok, but mine from LA only gave the option of sending the passports themselves. I know what the new "rules" say, but LA didn't give me an option.

Thanks for responding!  Yeah, I suppose they know that is paid for, haha.  Yeah, my cat is named my last name in teh states, but the vet up here have her registered with his last name. It's cute.  I add that to show that I do get some form of financial support from his family so I have connections.    Thanks for the input, I'm looking for all I can get.

Friends, I am in really complicated situation here.

My husband applied for my PR application, they received application on Dec 9.

I am indian citizen and we are living in USA on H1/H4. Now my husband is going to get job in Canada in 2 weeks and he has to give 2 weeks notice at current employer. So we have total 1 month and i am expecting PPR request soon.

So I just want to know that how long it will take to receive the passport back from Buffalo office. Can you please tell me how long they will take once they will receive my passport?

Thanks

Yeah I was worried about this too. Because my husband and I were originally going to apply before getting married (as common law), my medicals and FBI clearance was done last spring. We decided to wait until we were married but it did put both the medicals and the FBI clearance as expiring at some point in the application process. Luckily the visa office didn't seem to mind. I wouldn't recommend this but it worked for me. I think there is very little consistency in general and it probably depends on the person looking at your file and what the rest of your application looks like.

To add to the PPR discussion, this is what my PPR from the New York office says:

If you and/or your dependent(s) hold a passport from a visa exempt country, this office will NOT require your/their passport(s) to finalize this case. Only submit the passport(s) for those persons who require a visa for Canada. For all others, submit a clear photocopy of every page in their valid passports.

And here is the list of visa exempt countries:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp#exemptions

The US is one of them so I believe this means I can send photocopies of the pages of my passport.

Yeah I received a letter with same indications, so I just mailed photo copies of ALL pages in my passport including cover.

My request was the same. They also did not ask for photos like some people have had to do. I guess it all depends on country of origin and IO.
