Yay!!

Thanks, please update spreadsheet

I think we might fly down from SF to LA to just do it in person. Once we do this, I assume my wife can just come up with me to land right away?

The other thing is that my wife has to submit her passport, nothing is said about sending in copies. Weird.

Wow LA seems so much faster than Buffalo! I wonder what causes a case to get sent there?! I selected LA as my regional office because I live 30 miles from there so here's to hoping I get transferred!

How is it that a VO from a bordering country with very few living and cultural differences can take longer to approve than VOs in nonexempt countries that have  much higher rates of fraud? Just seems strange to me when I look at everyone who already has visas in the monthly threads.

I'm still waiting for my PPR as well.  Although I've been here in Canada on a work permit since October.  Wonder if we have the same visa officer.  Also they initially sent my application to London on accident then had to forward it to Buffalo.

Agreed, I'm especially confused about China. They seem to get their applications approved in mere months despite what I perceive as a huge influx of Chinese immigrants (at least out here on the West Coast)!

Most Chinese immigrants get processed in Hong Kong actually, which takes a loooong time. BJ is just for northern Chinese of which there are fewer.

WOW...so sorry to hear you have been waiting so long Sad.....What do you think they are taking their time with? Do you have kids? divorced previously? just curious if your case is a routine Application or if you have some complications.....(please note i do not mean to say kids are a complication in anyway)  Grin

No idea why they're taking their sweet time moving along. Kids, just 1 step-child that I'm trying to get to. No divorces. Nothing out of the ordinary. I did apply once before 5 yrs ago under skilled worker class, and got denied over being 2 points short (but that's another story, as my assessment was wrong). But I was with my girlfriend (now wife) at that time, so not as if it's a convenience thing.

Buffalo is the busiest VO by far, and that includes for all streams, family class, economic, and provincial nominee. Not that I want to be seen as taking their side or anything, but while Buffalo doesn't have the shortest average processing time, it also doesn't have nearly the longest either (I think that honor belongs to 27 months at Abu Dhabi or somewhere). The tradeoff is we have very few cases of interview requests and even fewer cases of refused applications. Don't get me wrong, Buffalo is still FUBAR.

There's quite a number of people who have filed as common-law. Being refused through Buffalo or its satellite offices is rare, especially for U.S. citizens and on ground of relationship genuineness. So odds are highly in your favor your relationship will be judged genuine - this is as true for married couples as it is for common-law couples. Many times common-law cases are even processed faster. For example, isolabella's common-law file was received by Buffalo in August and she got PPR fairly soon thereafter - about three months.

I absolutely love you ddobro2!!!!!  lol Okay... ahem, calm now.  But that news just makes me so happy to hear!  Now all I can pray for is I'm approved for extension of stay I'm applying for next month so I can be around for the extra month I need to be CL come May.    Keep your fingers crossed!

So we've decided to present the passport in person in LA, given the cost of a flight is pretty cheap.

We just need to bring the passport, and the PPR letter right?  Nothing else?
