I have a question regarding 'in process' status. Do you get notified right away that they started working on your file or is it much later that you get such notice from the embassy? Because what I'm noticing from people here is that they get a notice about being 'in process' at a later date than the actual.

You know, it was on one of the guides, I believe, when I started looking into this process around March of 2011 but apparently, I can`t find it in either the sponsor guide or immigrant`s guide any longer, so perhaps they took it out when they revised them. It was definetely a graphic with arrows though and it talked about what of the fees could be reimbused under what circumstances. Where is this guide that you're talking about with the flowchart of sorts?

I had a Client ID before filing as well because I was given a study permit, but I was never transferred to a satellite office. You know what I'm wondering? There are a lot of us who have been transferred who have visitor records - in other words, we already have UCIs, we're "in the system" - I can't help but wonder if there's something in their system that speeds it up for those who already have a UCI. Maybe there are some who have UCIs and don't get transferred, or who don't have UCIs and do get transferred, but it does seem the majority of transfers have a UCI. Many of those who aren't in Canada still got a UCI somewhere along the line (probably a previous VR) and it gets attached to their file.
Plausible, anyone?

We will never figure it out. I almost want to give up hypothesizing Actually, y'all, what they do is every batch of files they receive, they shuffle them like a deck of cards and then assign them numbers. Then they go to a random number generator online (like the folks who have to pick out giveaway winners based on comments on their blogs) and start work on the file pertaining to the given randomly generated number. Since Buffalo is staffed by a bunch of math buffs, they assign every number that is not a prime number to a satellite office based on whether it is even or odd and whether the particular city would be "even" or "odd" if it were a number (L.A.....definetely "odd" ). Okay, that was my bit of fun for today. Doubtful. I had a visitor record starting in July 2010, app was filed in Feb. 2011, and it took until Dec. 2011 for me to get PPR. My file was never transferred outside of Buffalo either. I would also doubt it, because just the other week Ddobro2 was contemplating whether being in Canada actually slowed down the processing time for people, since it seemed there were so many of us who filed in the period between fall 2010 and spring 2011 that were already in Canada yet still awaiting PPR while we watched May/June/July applicants getting PPR before us. Of course maybe things are changing down in Buffalo, but if they are it's a very new change on their part.

Not sure if it's a good news or bad news... just received an email an hour ago, my application is now transferred to New York. And it says, "Do not request the status of your file within ninety (90) days of the date of this letter."
Hi GOGOGO, Our AOR dates are same. I was wondering who receives the notice of file transfer to another location or any other update on the file (process/ PPR request/ Decision made notices). Sponsor or Applicant? I am constantly checking my e-mail (I am the sponsor) and so is my husband (he is the applicant), but we haven't received any update after AOR. Also if anybody knows, PPR request is by e-mail or mail usually? Whose e-mail id? Sponsor or applicant? Please let me know...

Hi, I was wondering if you requested for a specific location for interview in your application. What drives a file transfer to another location?

Applicant gets all correspondence from the VO. PPR usually comes via email but not always so you still need to be on the lookout in your mailbox. Initial Assessment letters/requests for further documentation frequently come by mail. Hi GOGOGO, Our AOR dates are same. Hi, I was wondering if you requested for a specific location for interview in your application. What drives a file transfer to another location?
I specifically requested Seattle as it was only a few hour drive from my home in Oregon. Which makes me think it got sent to LA with the decision already made that an interview wasn't needed. At least I hope one isn't. We sent enough proof! I don't know how the heck I'd get to LA - I'm in northern Alberta now, I don't fly, and driving down and back would take a week, and neither leaving the kids home or taking them are options!

Yes, ecas is well known for not being updated reliably. Some people get PPR and never once are able to log into it.
