Well following the advice of forcing AOR's I emailed Buffalo a couple of weeks ago, and they responded within 24 hours advising that they hyad sent an email back in August confirming receipt of the file on the 24th August. Yay I have an AOR  Cool

They then resent the email but it didn't have the file number on it.

So I emailed them back and thanked them, but advised that they had ommited the file number.

No reply.

So in a huff last night I sent them another email asking them (for the second time) could someone please email me my file number.

This morning got said file number within 12 hours of my message!!!!!

So they do read the emails, and reply to them when they feel like it lol.

But thank you Buffalo I do appreciate the response  Wink

That's great you finally got it but didn't you already have it via the sponsorship approval letter?

I thought I did, but I remember asking on here if it was the AOR and apparently according to the 'rules' of AOR, no it wasn't.

The sponsorship approval email advised that they had submitted the application to Buffalo, and Ecas stated that this was recieved on the 9th of August.

The actual AOR states they recieved the file on the 24th and it is "now in a big dusty hole waiting for somone to throw a dart into it to see which one gets worked on first".

$150 is cheap in comparison to what I know - it can cost around $1,000 and up for a visitor extention. But I understand that even this money can be dificult at times after all expenses related to immigration. As a general rule, you should apply for a visitor extention 30 days before it expires but it's still ok to apply as long as it's before your visitor record expiry. Any documents that you can show that you're waiting for your spousal PR app and would like to be with your hubby during this time. Also don't forget to show you have financial means of support while visiting Canada.
Tell me about it - the waiting is a waste of my youth too, sometimes I feel like I could have done so much more with my career or education Cry.

It's easy to renew your visitor record online with CIC. All you really need to do is fill out the questions, and scan the ID and signature page of your passport. It will be good to have the Client ID number from your visitor record, as well as the visa file number for your PR application. This is what I did, and I had no problems. Don't forget to give them proof of how you'll be financially supporting yourself while in Canada. (or how you'll be supported)

Since you have a month left, I would advise you to stay in Canada while you wait for your new visitor record to come in the mail, but I'd file it real soon. It will cost you $75 to renew your visitor record.

Here's a couple of links to help you out....

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/extend-visit.asp

Also, you should be aware that if you file your renewal app after your visitor record has expired, you'll be charged an extra $200 to restore your status!

I saw that you applied in June and my understanding is that at that time, Mississauga began printing the visa file numbers on the sponsorship approval letters addressed to the sponsor. Before they had only included the sponsor's Client ID. So that's why I asked that.

I thought I did, but I remember asking on here if it was the AOR and apparently according to the 'rules' of AOR, no it wasn't.

The sponsorship approval email advised that they had submitted the application to Buffalo, and Ecas stated that this was recieved on the 9th of August.

I just noticed on the spreadsheet that we're only a week apart. If you don't mind my asking, did Buffalo email you your AOR? Or did you have to email them to get it?

Thankfully, I've spent most all of my youth while I was still young. (not that I'm necessarily old) Cheesy

$1000? Is that what some immigration consultants charge for a simple visitor record extension that costs $75 if you do it yourself? My god, I think I may need to set up practice as an immigration consultant if that's the sort of prices they're charging (and people are actually paying)!  Shocked

Hey Doghouse it was this one re-buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca the one that is linked to on Ecas.

I just put something along the lines of

Dear all,

Whilst I appreciate that you must be super busy, I was under the impression that you should acknowledge reciept of applications for permanent residence within certain timescales.

As I have not yet had this confirmaion I am slightly worried that you do not have my application and would appreciate a response with my file number.

Many thanks
Moochops xxx

Thanks Ddobro2, though the fact that they do actually read the emails on the day of receipt fills me with a tiny glimmer Smiley
