Ok folks, I'm in! After four intense weeks of collecting information, documents, photocopying, researching, staying up late to complete forms, etc. my husband and I finally finished the application package. We mailed it off this morning, hopefully it'll get to Mississauga next monday or so.

Now the countdown (or should it be countup?) begins....

Happy waiting to all the Julies and good luck!

Here's a link to a DoogleDoc spreadsheet to help us  track our progress with the application process. (in my signature below)

Suggestions are welcome!

Enjoy.

Kolafsso, i've added you to the spreadsheet (in my signature below). Please keep us updated. I think they'll only email you when you're either approved or refused.

hmmm well it was almost 2inches thick and i think wieghed 3 pounds? Something like that! Yeah i was thinking it was going to cost around a $100 or so but the girl in the ups store managed to fit it in an envelope instead of a box so i saved money that way as they then don't go by size, just weight Smiley

My package's stated weight was 1.0 kg on the invoice and UPS charged $59 US. I think that was reasonable considering the importance of what's inside. I couldnt fit everything in 1 envelope so I split my application portion from my husband's in separate envelope. The lady at UPS put both envelopes inside a single UPS plastic bag-like envelope.

Hey All

I have a question, my husband and I applied Outside of Canada for me to sponsor him. Ive read that I can have my husband come visit me while we are waiting for a decision. We've been talking about him coming to visit in Sept or October and staying until we hear back from immigration. I've also read if he is approved and living in Canada he can send his passport from Canada if it is true how does the port of entry work? I was always under the impression that you had to send the passport from inside the US so that when you came to the border with his passport that was your port of entry. Also If he flies in to visit me will he be given a hard time at customs in the airport? Or as long as he has our case number and proof I was approved to sponsor him and our case is in process will he be fine?

I'm sure these are newbie kind of questions I just want to be 100% clear before we make a decision on him coming for a visit or get our hopes up thinking he can visit to find out its a huge hassle

Thanks for your time

Kuku, your info is on the spreadsheet, just waiting for your confirmation of filing.

Mel_R, that's a good question. I wish I knew the answer. I think it's a big gamble to have your husband coming to Canada while his app gets processed.

Maybe a more experienced poster can help.
