Alright, it's only 4th January but seeing as my boyfriend and I are planning to send our application off this week....I thought I'd start a thread for those filing in January 2011 (or hoping to).

Hope everybody had a cracking Christmas and new years and good luck for all of the applications!!

Hi there,
Thanks for starting this thread. I just sent application for my wife to CIC-M. Hope we all have speedy process in 2011. Smiley

Well done Vish - update your profile with your dates so we can take a sneaky peek at how you're progressing!

I was hoping to get everything off this week but it looks as though it might end up being Monday or Tuesday next week....oh well a couple of days isn't bad when you think about it.  Especially as it's been 4 months since we started all of this!

Fingers crossed for all of us January filers!!   Smiley

Would I get an acknowledgement from CIC-M for receiving my application or they'll just contact me after one month when they start processing my application? Thanks! Regards...Vish

You will only get a letter in the mail once your application have been approved or denied in the first stage (Sponsorship approval). Unless you track your package with Canada post, in which case you will know when it's delivered. It takes anywhere right now from 37 to 46 days from the time they receive it for your first stage approval to be granted. At some point during this time you can also track your progree on ECas with the receipt number from your application payment.

There is no AOR sent out for spousal applications once its transferred to Delhi according to their visa office website, for all those going through their office for stage 2.

Fleo - we're hoping to send ours on at the beginning of next week as well.  Which office are you going through?  Will be interesting to see how our timelines compare Smiley

Hi~

So overwhelmed right now!! Just slowly starting to get the application together and am wondering, how many people are using lawyers to do this?  Are most of you doing it yourselves?  I SO do not want to screw something up myself, but I cant imagine paying thousands for a lawyer...any thoughts?

Also, my american gf, soon to be wife wants to move here by June when the kids are out of school....can she move here if the application is still being processed?

Thank you...anyone!  Totally lost...

RSM - Using a lawyer is personal choice.....there's so much information on this site as well as in the booklets that you might not need one.  However, the risk of getting something wrong and getting your application rejected may warrant you paying a couple hundred for somebody to review it?  Very much up to you....

I'm pretty sure that anybody can enter Canada on a 6 month visitor permit so this could be a possibility for you while you're waiting for your PPR?  Depending on where in the States and where in Canada it may be that you each have to travel back and forth for a bit until your residency gets sorted  Better safe than sorry!!!
