Wondering if someone can advise me on this - I am a Canadian citizen living in Sydney with my Australian husband and son - who will be a dual Canadian/Australian citizen. We are planning on returning to Canada in a year or so and I wanted to get my head around the process. I think it all seems straightforward re sponsoring my husband but I am concerned about proving ties to Canada. My parents live in Toronto, and we would plan on returning there and signing a lease and looking for work (we both work here so money won't be a problem) but what kind of proof will be required? Does anyone have any experiences they could share?

I am a declared non-resident if that makes a difference

You could perhaps get your parents to write a letter stating how much they are looking forward to you all coming back to Canada and that they are looking forward to having their family around them.  Put that letter as part of your application package.

I have a question?Huh??

Sometime back I was caught driving an unregistered vehicle in australia and case went to court........i pleaded guilty and received $300 fine.

I have now applied for an AFP Fingerprint police clearance and was wondering that will this fine show up as traffic offence or criminal offence(I do not have any offence registered under my name) and also will this affect my PR file??

Please advise!!!!!! Sad

Thanks TracyS!

I have another question for those who have had their applications completed: Do you have a 'must-enter before' date on your granted visa/PR? The reason I am asking is because we are both currently in Aus and it will take us a few months to organize everything after the application has been completed to move back to canada.

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone who has/is applying!

Hi Marc1701

Your visa will be stamped with a 'must enter before' date of exactly one year after your medical was done.  So try to have the medical done as late as possible before submitting your application.

It will show up as a criminal offence. I just got my husband's AFP document and his (from the same year as yours) shows up there. I am trying to figure out what to do about it now. I am pretty gutted about this.

Dont worry about it... Traffic offence is never a criminal offence..Smiley

rrv - I was processed in 2 weeks, so was another applicant from June (BrookeandFelix) - so for some of us at least it was super quick. You can see our progress on the June 2011 thread.

Hi all,

I have a question! We received a letter from the Canadian Consulate in Sydney back in May requesting paperwork "the engagement" from immigration Quebec. The letter stated we should receive 3 copies of paperwork and send Sydney the copy bearing the notation "Copie conforme service aux garants et aux candidats a l'immigration." We didn't receive anything from Quebec until August (after numerous phone calls it turned out they had an old address in thier system from 1989. sigh), the paperwork we did recieve from Quebec was a selection certificate and didn't remotely resemble the paperwork Sydney was requesting. Quebec assured us this was the only paperwork we were going to receive and for Quebec the file was complete, so I emailed the selection vertificate to Sydney in August.

We haven't received any response via email or post from Sydney. We moved to Canada in June, just after receiving our last correspondence from Sydney but changed our address just prior to leaving. I'm a little worried though. My wife's ecas still says 'application received' and hasn't been updated since May 17, when Misissagua received our application.

Should we harass Sydney at this point or hold tight? I want to check that we have sent the correct documentation but we have no VO or any other contact but the generic email. Any thoughts?

Thank you!
