I sent our application from Zhuhai to Mississauga by DHL on 31 Oct, and it arrived on 2 November , Canaboy.
Good luck to us both, and to us all.
But as we all look forward to being in Canada -- take a look at the weather!! Do you ever wonder why we are so keen to live in Canada? :-)

It's not the Fall, but the bone-numbing winter cold to follow that strikes fear into the hearts of the brave.

Where are we all applying from?
I (sponsor) am applying from Zhuhai, China, where I live with my wife. I'm originally from Ottawa, then St Catharines, and spent the last 6 years in Costa Rica. If the visa is granted, we will settle in Nanaimo (at leats that is what I plan at this moment).
Canaboy, what's your situation? And will you be applying for a temporary visa to allow you (or yours) to visit Canada while waiting for the residency visa? I just did an application, and ran into some conflicting instructions between the CIC and Beijing websites, and even an inconsistency in the Beijing website itself.

Hi guys, I'm just following your thread as I'm a very late October applicant, so kind of in the Oct/Nov category. My husband is German, we just wed last month in Canada and sent the application in asap after the wedding. We currently live in Switzerland but I'll be starting work in Ottawa in January so we'll be apart for a few months in the new year. BOOOO!!
So I'm in the same boat as you and know how you feel - the relief that it was sent, then turning blue holding our breath until we saw something on ecas... but now we are jumping for joy because CIC-M is processing really fast these days! Hopefully the local office comes through for all of us too. Wishing you all a speedy, painless, and successful application process!
Cheers, TLH
PS Also watching the weather - OUCH!!!

Littlest Hobo:
Ottawa is one of the most beautiful cities -- for 8 months a year, and unfortunately January is not one of them. Just be patient. Come April, the birds come back, the trees bud and fill the air with Spring fragrance, the sun gets warmer, the ice leaves the wonderful Ottawa River so you can sail, and you can bike along the River Parkway, for kilometers.
But despite all that, why leave Switzerland? Many people want to move there, but cannot afford to. You are already there, and giving it up!!?

Hey guys, We sent our app. off November 9th and we'll have to assume they've got it by now or will soon, because we lost our tracking number! Oh well. Checking the CIC website every day using the online application checker to see if they've received it and started processing, but I assume there will be a good few weeks before we see anything I am the Canadian one, my husband is Danish. It's such a relief to have the application finished but I am such a worrier, I keep thinking "What else could I possibly have put it? What could they reject us on?" So far my answers to those questions is "nothing" but you never know! Anyway... good luck to you all

LOL, thanks Toby, everyone asks me that! "Why would anyone LEAVE Switzerland?" Well for one thing it would be nice to come "home" to Canada after being away for many years - to feel "home" and be near friends and family and all that. I agree, Ottawa is nice and I miss real seasons because I love them all (except early spring - bleah!) but also beacause my husband wants an adventure and of all the countries in the world where we could move, it is a really great one: wonderful people and amazing cultural variety, good lifestyle/services/benefits, liberal politics, clean air and amazing nature!
Not a factor for us but Switzerland is not a great place to raise a family if you are a career-woman, since mat-leave is really short and many women just end up quitting their jobs, sharing the leave with the father is not the norm/law here either which I find very s*xist. Still very old school and "behind" in some of those areas.
Hi ekristensen, great news that you got your application off! I worry constantly too, but I think the chances of being rejected are very low if your case is "normal" and you are a legitimate couple with proof. Ours was a whirlwind romance so we are a bit nervous about the short courting period but we have lots of pics and flight tickets of our various dates, emails and skype call records, proof of living together, and wedding photos with our families so we think our chances are good. Everyone can see we are the real deal, hopefully our application conveys that.
It's also kind of obvious that anyone moving from Switzerland or Denmark is probably educated and isn't desperate to come to Canada to improve their standard of living/lifestyle (in fact, it could be considered a step down! I love Denmark (in summer)!!!) so I would guess they would figure out that the applicant is only applying because of love! I guess having dependents or a criminal record or financial problems would cause delays or obstacles but it seems from what I read on here that for a straightforward case, the only thing to worry about is "when" and not "if" the PR is approved. Every week or month lost for a forgotten document or missing information costs time apart and/or time without income (and STRESS!) but it shouldn't be a deal breaker, nor the end of the world. Where is your processing office, by the way?
Well, I hope it is some consolation to know you are not the only one on pins and needles! Gotta run now (must check ecas for the 5th time today ;-) ) Good luck, TLH
