Thanks for the info, it does helps. Earlier I was confused if i should be sending only the current passport or both, now I know :-)
Well that makes sense they check the foreign travel that's the reason they ask for other old cancelled passports ( if any )

Just double checking that the total fees ( including the Right Of Residency fee ) is $1040 right ?

i dont remember exactly the amt but its around there but we paid all our fees up front..including the right to residency fee. We didnt want any delay. His letter said current n expired pp...when u get ur letter it may say otherwise so everyone should read their letters careful.

Can someone who has changed their wifes name on the passport before applying, verify what they put for Question # 3
As my wife name used to be:
WIFE   FATHER  LASTNAME(same)
Now it is:
WIFE   HUSBAND  LASTNAME(same)

I would say In Other names there should be nothing it should be left blank or mark it N.A because only one name should be stated in the forms and that is the first name ( which remains the same ) Other names is only if you ever changed your name or any nick name on the certificates or stuff like that, Just avoid it to avoid any delay in the process.

Panda:  I talked to my husband in india & he trusts Speed Post - india. Because they too provide tracking & require signature. And they've been reliable in past experiences.
But the thing is the embassy mailing address has a P.O box. Would this be an issue for speed post india?

Lets say we go with Blue Dart instead ...they wont deliver to a P.O box. So how can we get around this? Is it safe to just exclude the P.O box?

Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated!

You can go with speedpost and specify po box

If u r using bluedart dnt specify po box

both are reliable. i used bluedart it was fine without po box

I am sure Speedpost does work with P.O Boxes. When i sent my passport 4 years ago to the New Delhi CHC Address i used the speedpost and there is no issue on this. At the post office your husband can ask the representative there that is the P.O box ok for delivery , I am 100% sure it should be no problem with speedpost.

You cannot exclude the P.O Box that can be more messy.Just go with the speedpost to the address mentioned in the PPR letter

We also got passport request within a week of the application reaching ND, that was mid-septmeber. We were really excited that things were happening so fast... I am not trying to discourage anyone but they seem to be slow in ND after issuing PPR and in giving visa... I am not sure why each person has such different processes but there must be some reason. I am also wondering if there is a legal time limit they can have someone's passport?

How many pictures u submitted ?

Did the last name got changed after marriage?

Was the marriage arranged?

Every case is different i guess
