I would be in the same situation, my wife had a passport on which she never travelled, and now we have a new passport with my name on it.

So are you planning on sending both of these or just the NEW passport?

I will wait till I get the PPR letter from New Delhi and see what they are asking for, also I will consult with a Immigration lawyer on this.
It won't harm sending 2 passports ( 1 new and other which has been cancelled due to name change ) I will keep you posted on this one

Guys....

Check your ECAS, mine got updated today. around 3:00pm Eastern Time. (Toronto)

under the permanent residence application status it says Application Received. this morning it was not applicable. What the hell does that mean, When i clicked on the Application received, it says they have received my wife's medical documents. Does that mean Visa's on its way. is the end of the tunnel coming near for us??

Any ideas guys.....

i am here in vancouver with my wife now
flight was little hectic as it's long flight......
after landed on vancouver airport i was following sign and i found a lady speeking new immigrants this way and i told her it's my 1st landing and she hey welcome to canada
then i went on iimigrant deptt. and there is officer asked few Q. to me as she was doing cross check if all is same as embessy said. she took 15 min in my case and a guy before to me he got some issue and officer said forget what embessy said it's in my hand i allow u to get in canda or sent u back she said i have power for this. damn and i got scared lol but yup she was ok and sweet to me and after finish work on COPR she stamp on my passport and said welcome to canada
then i went on another desk there she gave me welcome kit and expalne me all how i have to use and there is all information for me ......

after this all i came in visitor lounge where is my wife and in law waiting for me and they welcome me in canadian style like baloons candian cap lol ...

next day they show me vancouver city which one in soo soooo beautifull

yesterday i went for apply SIN number with my wife and i got my Number officer said card will be deliver by post in 10 days.
so yeah after SIN now i can say that i am officelly candian PR coz now my details updated in Candian govt. database.

Guys just by seeing the status change on ESCA, but some energy in me.

my case is little different then yours, Its appeal case and it says application received meaning i sent in new updated forms and medical results have been received.  Hope they will ask for passport now.  I am so much in stress.  Hope this this visa issue comes to an end now, its been long journey for us.  Congrats your passport is on your way.

My spouse is not in India, but I thought I would add something to this thread. My Ecas status just changed as well and not sure what it's supposed to mean. Just says on the PR Part that the Application was reccieved and the meds have been revieved. Not sure how long it takes to process the visa in delhi, but for the colombo office anywhere from 8-17 months!!

My case was transfer to ND office on Dec 16th 2010. How can I check status ?I can see status like decision made on same week when case was transfer to ND, ie. I am eligible to sponsor.

But how can I check for status of ND office for my spouse? Whether mail for ppr has been send? Thx

whats the ETA of your husbands arrival?, have you seen how the visa looks like? did they return all the supporting documents, as well, what was the stamped date on the envelope? how long did the visa take from ND to your husbands home?

 @ missingyou - wow that's alot of questions! he's coming this sunday  no, i haven't seen the visa. no, they have not returned the documents yet. hmm dont know the date stamped on envelope - but it was issued on jan 11th and it arrived at home on 21st (so say about 10 days by post)

my e-cas was update some time back and says in process.

We received XXXXXX application for permanent residence on November 22, 2010.
 
We started processing XXXXXX application on January 10, 2011.
 
Medical results have been received.

you are right guys - ECAS has finally been updated! looks like the employee responsible in ND finally got back from vacation! :-)

I just checked my husband's ecas status too...Under Permanant Residence Application Status, it says 'Complete'. Then will you click on it, it says the following:
"We received your application for permanent residence on September 28, 2010.
 
We started processing your application on November 29, 2010.
 
Medical results have been received.
 
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision."

In my ECAS status...Under Permanant Residence Application Status, it says 'Complete'. Then will you click on it, it says the following:
"We received <my husband's name> application for permanent residence on September 28, 2010.
 
We started processing <my husband's name> application on November 29, 2010.
 
Medical results have been received.
 
A decision has been made on <my husband's name> application. The office will contact <my husband's name> concerning this decision."
