YAYYYY...my wife got PPR today, Finally !

Its exactly 50 days now and i was worrying day by day....

Yesterday I tried to send the enquiry to New Delhi couple of times through their enquiry form:
https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=new%20delhi

It failed both the times.

I also manually sent the email with exactly the same format as the form to their email address delhi-im-enquiry  @  international.gc.ca
It also failed.

I asked the call center guys about the bouncing email, they gave the Delhi phone number (which is on the website already) and asked to contact them directly.

I was about to make the phone call now (as they would have opened it by now only), but when I checked my wife's email one last time....hurray, it was there....at first i thought it was the reply to our enquiry. But when I opened the pdf, its the PPR !!!

Now, the second waiting game starts....Hopefully it ends well and fast, for all of us....*prayers*

Congratulations vengat83. It was about time that you got PPR. Let us hope the second step is super fast for all of us. In between, if I remember correctly your address vanished recently, is that correct? If so, did you get your address now.

Hello PPL
My passport has been received by CHC ND yesterday (my previous post it reached only Chankyapuri)
It cost only Rs. 144 for 1.3 Kgs through speed post

whereas DHl and Blue dart was Rs. 900 around.

I told my wife it makes no difference to send through Private couriers.
Please update the spread sheet if required
Thanks

@ MD there is no issue, in fact this is the time to bring your important things with you. I had my wife get her jewelry appraised.  Simplest way is to take pictures, print them out (sets of 2) and on the back get the jeweler to appraise it with his stamp and date. The only issue she had was the couple jeweler she went to they weren't willing to do it cause they thought she was gonna use the appraisal to sell the jewellery back to them...lol. The two sets of the picture will help you in the future when you take that jewelry out of country for a wedding or whatever occasion and on your way back customs won't give you a hard time as you have proof that this jewellery is not something new you just bought at your recent trip.

When your husband lands in Toronto let the custom officer know what he is bringing now and what he will bring later on. He has a year to bring his stuff custom free, but he would need to provide them with some sort of list of what items will follow him or he plans to bring back in future.  Each airport is different, eg in Montreal they asked my brother in law's wife to show them the jewelry appraisal as well as provide list of items she left behind that she wants to bring with her in future. In Ottawa for my buddy's wife they just asked if she was bringing anything over $10000. For us in Edmonton, they didn't ask my wife anything. Didn't even ask if she is brining any jewellery or valuables. The immigration officer asked if she had over $10000 in cash.

On a side note, anyone know a company I can contact in india who will ship me an old school wooden entrance door you see in village homes.  I went to go see my nani's pind and loved the door. They were gonna throw it away but its an awesome door, so need to get that shipped over. Figure I ask here before I started researching shipping options.

QUESTION GUYS!

I asked my hubby if he can bring along some of my wedding jewelry I left back in India and he says he doesn't wanna be in trouble with customs at the Canadian airport...I do know that as a landed immigrant he is able to bring items like jewlery as long as there is an "appraisal" receipt present..

Help guys!

The Conservative record: Immigrants see a harsher Canada
As Harper gov't prepares to introduce new policies for immigration here is a link to some interesting stats. Family class sponsorship continues to decline. in 2010 it was down by 15%

http://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorials/article/940997--the-conservative-record-immigrants-see-a-harsher-canada

Aside from the PR scams which some reports suggest is merely 1% of total PR applications its something Minister Kennedy wants to tackle along with the "wealth" leaving this country, ie sons and daughters sending money to their folks back in India a multi-billion dollar loss to Canadian economy so they want to increase economic immigration, ie people who can work and pay taxes to support our aging population as in 20 to 25 years seniors population will be over 10 million over 25% of canada's population so Canada needs more workers, hence new changes coming to skilled worker category as well as cut cost in public sector (harper plans to lay off 80000 federal workers, 1/3rd of total workers by 2014-2015). So this house sitting should be quite interesting.

....

Singhson, Thanks for the article.
But it is no surprise for me.
I know the conservative minds and the "Bum" Jason Kenney

"...But they have deprived newcomers of the family support they need to integrate successfully, off-loaded responsibility for immigration, and given Canada a harsher, more forbidding face.

As Kenney struggles to regain control of his file, Canadians can judge the trade-offs he has made and the overtly self-interested immigration system that has emerged.."

So Kenny wants to put a stop to the "dollar outflow"Huh?
he think Canada is losing wealth?

How contradicted Mr. Kenny is?

He has stopped PandGP applications, no more he said.
The number of Family Visas have been reduced..

Wont it create more "dollar outflow"?
if parents and grand parents are still out there, wont I need to send money to them?

The politicians are not so dumb not to think of it.
It is the "politcal choices" and politics is full of garbage

People when you vote next time see through your politician and the party!
