Hello All,

Can someone tell me the process of Reliability status check for govt jobs?
How do they do the background check and how it differs from normal background check?

is it with public works or another federal gov't dept? there is basic and enhanced reliability check. you can check the public works website for details www.pwgsc.gc.ca. basically its a full in depth check from your previous employers, to criminal check to verifying your date of birth, education (if its in india they will get an agency to check it down there)...basically everything under the sun. everyone needs to get this done if you are working with protected information/data and these are valid for 10 years (can't remember for sure)

sounds like they are asking for the basic check so just provide what they ask.  its enhanced check where they ask for everything. i am assuming you are applying for a job and this is one of the requirements, follow what they ask as each job has its own requirements.

just a heads up, they probably list this on the job opening as well that federal gov't will give preference to citizens first and if they cannot find a suitable candidate then they will consider PR candidates.

Hello, everyone:

Could someone give me advice on two questions related to the forms:

1.  IMM 0008 Generic application - the last question on page 2 asks if the PR applicant has a national identity document.  Would a birth certificate or baptism certificate qualify in this category?  I'm not sure because my husband is Indian but his birth and baptism certificates were issued by institutions in Kuwait, where he was born.  Since both certificates were issued by non-Indian authorities, would they qualify as "national identity documents"?  If not, is there anything else he could submit instead - a copy of his voter's card or driver's license perhaps?

2.  IMM 5490 Sponsored spouse questionnaire - question 8 asks if the PR applicant has family in Canada, and if so, to list their names and addresses.  Is it considered necessary or useful to include proof of the relatives' status in Canada - PR card, citizenship card or passport copy?

Thanks very much in advance.

- I do not remember exactly, but I think we put license number.

- Yes. it is not mandatory, but including them won't  hurt for sure. I would enclose a copy just to be on safe side.

I believe you know what "family" means for Canadian immigration purpose.
