Hi,
My soon to be husband holds a PR and is going to sponsor for my PR. I have read that police clearance certificate is needed for every country that I have stayed for more than 6 months since 18. I have been in US (Texas, Fortworth) on H1B for 2004-2009 and am back in India since then. Does anybody have any pointers what is the shortest path to get the police clearance certificate from US? Would we receive within a day if we travel to US? any pointers would be really helpful.

No there is no way to get PCC in a day. You need to get FBI clearance. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks/background_checksThis site is all you need. Generally it takes form 4-16 weeks to get PCC back. Rest is your luck. If you are in India. I will recommend you to get your fingerprinting done from Delhi from J K consultancy www.delhifingerprints.com - Sector 7, Dwarka, New Delhi - 011 26175363. They have good history of no fingerprinting rejected.(sometimes they ask you to redo fingerprinting as it is not clear. So I will suggest you to send application asap and wait for your credit card to be charged. Generally you get your PCC back within 3weeks from the day your credit card is charged. Thanks! I was notified by ecas tracker about the status change at about 4:45am EST. This is exactly what it says when I click on decision made: We received your application for permanent residence on May 10, 2011.
