After submitting my PP on July 21st and receiving a phone call on Aug 23rd asking for FBI Certificate (Delivered to them on Sept. 2nd), I gave in day before and emailed them (Sept. 28th)! Hopefully they'll revert by tomorrow! My wife even spoke to an Immigration Rep at the MPs office. They faxed CHC ND to enquire my status! Sorry I think I posted this info day before too, i'm kinda getting frustrated now, really want a decision now!

Hi Everyone...Getting ready for Canada....Just to ask you all....What is the best way to take money to Canada other than Cash..may be around CAN$10000..So that I can open a new branch there ..I have SBI account in India....Help is appreciated...Thanx..n good luck all.......!!!!!!!

Sorry I misunderstood! My case processing started on July 7th @ CHC ND and received PPR on July 21st. I understand your processing started on Sept. 16th, I guess wait for another week or so! Good Luck. |

U will have to declare to the authorities if u carry more than $10,000. No need to declare $10000 or less - Medium other than cash: Traveller Cheques (AmEx), Banker's Cheque (International DD in CAD/US $), etc. Good Luck! |

whoa man you being from near delhi it took 15 days this gives me a feeling they probably do a bulk drop off of mail maybe just once or twice a month coz i was talking to canadianpr he got his ppr in 3 days in andhra pradesh after nd began processing , i just hope they keep processing the files till the passport get there And hope they just dont stop till they get the passport. |

Its pretty random! At the time when I was eagerly waiting for my PPR back in July, I remember another person on this forum received it in 3-4 days in Punjab after his processing started! I became super hyper and started making rounds to my Post Office when I saw the eCAS update on july 13th (Tuesday). I finally received it on July 21st! The irony is i'm only 20-25 mins away from the Embassy (NCR, DLF, Gurgaon)! Crazy, right?

hello all!!
One question. why do we have two diff dates mentioned for sponsorship approval and file transfer. Isnt the application transferred to ND as soon as the sponsorship is approved? And once the file is transferred, how long does it take for the PPR? Whats AOR?

DPM @ you can't carry more then 3000$ Govt. don't allow for this. but if you want carry 10,000$ with you then you have to get permission from RBI.

I found this resource, straight from the horse's mouth: Per RBI, you are allowed to carry $10,000 without declaration BUT cash should be no more than $3000, rest (upto $7000) in Banker's Draft, TCs!!! Once sponsorship is approved and PPR received, then u may still continue using the same receipt num to check status or can use the file number allotted .. u'll find the file numb in PPR letter .. hope this info helps u .. thank u and All d best :-) .. |

hey sim85 .. thanks .. i am a bit relieved nw .. so did u find any change in ur ecas status ?? mine still says "InProcess" ... going to be completion of 5th wk since they received my PP .. very eagerly waiting for my visa so that i'll atleast fly by 3rd or 4th wk of oct 2010 .. lets see and hope n pray for the speedy process ... and i read cpl of wks before in our thread tht thr is no harm in ur husband's visit .. it even strengthen ur application .. he can very much cme n visit u for a short trip .. i hope that too! by 3rd or 4 th week of oct..
