Hello everyone,

This is my first time here posting, and I just registered today. I have been reading this forums from last year. I like the atmosphere here, and the people are nice, and everyone is here with one thing in mind. PPT with a VISA Smiley

I went to India on 1st of Dec 2010, I got married on the 12th of Dec 2010, and I came back to Canada on 16th of Dec 2010 due not able to get time off from work as overlap of vacation time with manager, so I had to sacrifice and so did my wife.

We both have been apart since then, and we talk countless hours on the phone, thanks to Mobilicity for Unlimited India Calling Plan. I know what you all are going through, the wait is just killing us.

After I got here I only had one thing in mind. How to get my wifes passport to be stamped with that shiny VISA.
So far since then here is progress:

Dec-1-2010 - YYZ to BOM
Dec-3-2010 - Arrived at BOM and reach the village
Dec-4 until Dec-11-2010 - Prep for Wedding, Shopping, Lots of thinkgs
Dec-12-2010 - Yes the Big day We are getting married.. and now married.
Dec-13-2010 - Walima
Dec-14-2010 - Lunch and Dinner at my in-laws
Dec-15-2010 - All day travel from village to BOM (airport) late departure
Dec-16-2010 - Arrive at YYZ in the morning (get a ride, go home, and REPORT to WORK Sad )

Dec-17-2010 - I seek professional advise from some a consultant, appointment on Saturday.
Dec-18-2010 - I meet, give him everything he asks for...
Dec-19 until Dec-27-2010 - This guy just closes his office on me, and no phone calls..
Dec-28-2010 - Finally I go to his office, Finds him, and guess what...
Dec-28-2010 - He is asking me to get my wifes middle name changed to my name on her passport
Dec-29-2010 - We take steps to do that... lots of things.... he has half the forms completed.
Jan-22-2010 - We get the new passport in our hand, copy of passport will be here in 2 days (someone bringing it)
Jan-24-2010 - I also asked my wife to get a PCC, and we will receive that soon. (few days)

Thats all I have to share, but I will need your advise and help everyone, as you all are far in the battle, and you all have a lot of experience.

I feel a lot better after posting this.

Thanks...

Welcome to the CLUB DNT2003 ;

Good to see one more aspirant here in the forum, you can ask what ever questions you have and we will do our best to answer and help you with anything you need help with,From the timeline you posted it sounds that you and your wife didn't had enough time to spend with each other, it gets so hard I know that.I hope you have enough ( 40-50 ) post marriage pictures for your kit.

Yes, the Spouse name change on the PPT and the PPC are two things that should be completed before hand in order to expedite the case.I did that too.

Well I hope you complete the KIT fast and send it to CIC Mississauga for approval.I think your Representative is going to do that all for you.I started preparing my case 3 months before my marriage so that's why I decided to file it myself as I am quite familiar with the process now.

Good luck to you and keep us posted for the progress !

Cheers;

Hi Guys,

Is name change necessary? I got engaged last year in Dec 2009, and immediately my wife submitted papers for PP, now her PP, has her dad's name on it, I submitted the paperwork with her dad's name on it. I hope that is ok, hope this is not causing the delay. I can easily get her middle name changed when she comes, it is not a big deal. I hope its ok.

Blahhhhh.....I was just talking to my dad about this, this morning. Dam it is a small world after all.

@  Missing you

I am not sure what you mean by the middle name ? Her dad's name should not be a problem because it stays the same through out life.
The only thing need to be change is her last name and add the Spouse name on the passport. that will serve the purpose of a proof that both of you are married.

I hope it helps.

But yes changing the last name does help in the process.

Relax Vish, no worries on that one. I have seen cases where they do not check the last name to be the same, but in some cases they will ask the wife to change her last name on the passport. depends if Visa officer feels like to verify the genuine-ship of the marriage.

But it's not a have to think but they might ask you before issuing the visa and that takes another 2 months , so better off changing it

I dont htink it matters middle name meaning if my wifes name was aaa bbb ccc, and my name is ddd eee fff  in our culture my wife would obtain my first name as her middle name so it would be aaa ddd ccc. since we both have the same last name i dont think it matters. i thought i would just throw it out there to see what suggestions i got.

Vish I dont think it would matter, what if your wife already had her PP made before you knew each other. it is possible it might help speed up the process but the way that ND is going, do you think it would matter? They are going piss slow any ways why put a speed breaker in the way?
Dont worry. As long as you have submitted your marraige cert, they cannot say anything, take for example white peopel, sorry white people for calling you white people, but any ways, some of them dont get there name changed, on there passport, or other important docs, as they keep there maiden name, reason being what if they change there last name and it doesn't work out with there partner, she has to go through the headache of changing it again.

so buddy no stress, only happiness. and pray that your paperwork gets complete pretty soon.

I kept my maiden name - its your choice - doesnt mean you are not in genuine relationship! The embassy doesn't require a woman take her husband's name for PR. Ive known my husband for 5 yrs, and we lived together in india & USA for 3 yrs straight frm wedding day. Never lived apart during married life except to start the sponsor and now i am going back! We have 2 kids togethertoo. As long as i submitted enough proof of this...Im good to go. Changing last name to husband'sname is a weak proof. They dont even want someone to just submit marriage certificate...& if that doesnt say married what does?!!! They want more. They want relationship proof.

My name is endorsed in my husband's passport. You dont need to change maiden name to do this. I dont know if having my name endorsed in my husband's passport matters or not.

Missing You: thats a generalization and an unfair one. Im a white person LOL and i didnt keep my maiden name for the reason u mentioned....I kept it because i was living abroad at that time and it would have been a hassle to change it n neither my husband n i r traditional so he didnt care either. I also like my last name. Thats why our kids have a hypenated name..his and mine together!  And to add to this: all my "white" friends changed their maiden name to their husband..so dont know where u got thatgeneralization...As a white person the reason we keep our maiden name orsome of us do isnot for the reason u mentioned. Well maybe some white ppl do lol...lets keep generalizations out of this thread.

Missinghim: i was just throwing ideas out, as I had couple of conversations with female colleagues at work today that just got married in the last 6 months, and that is what they said, so not to offened anyone, its pretty much up to the couple, so no right and wrong answer, but anyways, Vish, dont worry, there should not be a problem.

Tomorrow's Tuesdays, everyone lets hope for the best.

Ok no problem MissingYou. And i was just stating thats not always correct the reason. I didnt doit for that reason. But anyways I see where u r coming frm...dont shoot the messenger! haha. Thats pretty pathetic of ur coworkers  tho..u shouldnt go into a marriage at the start thinking it may not work n what if so i will keep maiden name Then i wont have to go thru heartache of changing it back. Be positive n keep ur maiden name for other reasons. LOL Or change it if thats what u want.

My app was sent to ND embassy on Jan 4..its Jan 24..cant see an update on ecas..used client # frm sponsorship approval letter n husband's name, DOB, place etc.
Is it too early to see anything? When would they have startedthe initial review?

Missinghim,

really hard to say ND has a mind of there own, my file was transfered on Sept 28, and i got the MP to write a letter, and ND responds back by saying waiting for medical results, medical was on in July, Medical clinic sent results in 7 business days. so what the hell are they waiting for? So really hard to say, when they would start the initial review.

i have gone through everybody's views somehow i 'm  bit got nervous. i'm canadian citizen and applied my husband. i also i didn't know about last name. someone told my husband about pp should have wife's name. because at the airport they might ask the rubbish questions. so he got my old last on that.
i don't think so it does matters in this case.
