Hi all,
I have two FSW applications in the same time, one old file (April 2007) under simplified process and one new file (June 2009) under new rules. The old file is still in its waiting period and has not started to process actively but new one is in review stage (Received by visa office). Yesterday I got an email just regarding my old file from visa office with following content:

Dear Sir/Madam,

This letter is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada, received in April 2007. Citizenship and Immigration Canada requests that you confirm whether or not you are still interested in immigrating to Canada. Please note that we are currently reviewing applications received at this mission in January 2004.

If you are no longer interested in immigrating to Canada and you wish to withdraw your application, please contact within 60 days to confirm your mailing information, and we will return your full application fee. Please note that your refund may take up to 3 months for processing
If we do not hear from you within this timeframe, we will assume your continued interest in immigrating to Canada, and your application and fees will be retained for future processing. No further offers to return your fee will be sent. When we are ready to actively begin processing your application we will contact you to request your updated information.
Thank you for your interest in Canada
. “

I ask a question from those who have two applications in the same time or other seniors has anybody got similar email or do you have any comment because my new file is still in pending review and I don't think its result will be clear during this timeframe (60 days). Note that I don't know why they have sent this email because as you may know in simplified process the application fee will be refundable until 4 months before starting assessment actively that will be probably in 2012.

I had submitted an old application to Cairo Office in March 2007, 5 month later I received the same E-mail. since that Email till now nothing had happen;
however I reapplied for FSW under NOC 0231 in Sep 2009 and I'm waiting for reply.
but to my knowledge we can still withdraw our application until they start processing the file.

Dear nasi,

Did you get exactly the same email with that 60 days timeframe?
So when u got this email you just had one FSW application. What did u answer to ur email? Did u withdraw your old simplified application?
What is your new application stage?
I got this email yesterday this means about 2.5 years after submitting old application I think it is related to my new application under new rule because as I said my new application is under pendding review stage in visa office. Note that they did not mention anything about my new application, it is regarding my old file.
I have also thought we could withdraw our old application until they have not started assessment actively but as you can read in this email they have limited me to just 60 days decision.
what is your suggestion?
any other comments are appreciated.

yes I did received the same exact Email, but I did not respond to it, cause I don't want to withdraw my application until I get approved under the new rules.
It seems like they send this email whenever they enter the case to their system. my case on E-case is showing in process with the option to withdraw since they send me that E-mail. (An application can only be withdrawn when it is IN PROCESS.)
according to Cairo Visa Office where I submitted my file the wait time is about 66 month, so my application not due for review before 18 month.
on the other hand for my new application I did not receive a file Number yet, so I can't check it on e-case.

I have also decided to maintain my old file until I get approved my new file under new rule but as they have limmited us just 60 days decition, we can not get refund our old file application fee after this 60 days. as you have not respond to your email u have also missed this apportunity to get refund your old file application fee after your new file get approved.
have you ever konwn someone else who has applied under old rule and got similar email?
my new file has passed about 90 days in pendding review stage and then I got that email. I thought as I have two application I got this email but it seems from your reply it is a general email that they send to before new rule clients.
