Hi guys today i went to a a reputable law firm in downtown Toronto to consult on sponsoring my parents and
their depended child, also my brother(21yrs) he turns 22 next April. Not to mention the fee which it was a shocking of $4500
Also what i found weird is that she said that my brother`s age could or could not lock-in ,so there is a possibility of not locking-in
According to many veterans here at CD,(No disrespect)i have been told that once CIC Mississauga receives the application and sends a letter of
acknowledgment to me the age should automatically lock -in,This was very discouraging because my of my brother.Anyone heard of this before?
Any idea?
Thank you

She was right and wrong. If you send the application before your brother reaches 22 and as long as he remains single, child less and no common law partner then the age is locked. I also believe but not sure, that he must be a dependent at time of application i.e a student or not working.

If his personal circumstances change, then no, his age is not locked in. You have to consider the fact, that your brother would have to remain single and childless for up to 10 years, as this is now, a real possibility of time lines for non spousal family sponsorship.

Seniors on this forum may be able to give you more details.

Thanks for your insight.Yeah, its crazy don`t you think?Having to wait 10 years I mean CIC is clearly in my opinion trying to discourage new immigrants
to bring their families  here for good. I mean it should n`t take this long.So assume CIC gets the application before my brother turns 22,besides getting married what else could disqualify him from being a dependable child?.Thank you
