So stupid me was under the impression that the option c print out was the same as the Notice of Assement that gets sent to you after you file your taxes. I just realized that infact it is not. I called the CRA to order one and it takes 10 days, I'd prefer to file our application this week though. My option C i'm getting is for 2009, because I haven't filed my 2010 taxes yet. I have to wait because my husband needs a individual tax number and those are apparently taking 10 weeks to process currently. Also the international tax people said that our taxes because they are "complicated" would likely take 3 to 4 months to complete, so really I probably won't have an Option C for 2010 until like August... ANYWAYS my question is this. I have my letter from my employer stating I work full time, and make decent money, I have my t-4 for 2010, I have my 2009 regular notice of assessment. Do you think that would be enough, or should I wait for the 2009 Option C to show up sometime next week?

I think you should wait for the Option C Printout. If they request it later, it can delay your file and it is one of the documents required, not just a supporting document you would add yourself. Also,it doesn't really take 10 business days. I had mine within 3-4 days of requesting it....so maybe you will be able to file your application this week ! Smiley

Better to send a perfect file, even if you have to send it a little later, rather then having your file returned to you !

Okie dokie. Thanks! Hopefully it will come sooner... I just have a very little faith in the CRA doing anything quickly.

My husband's Option C came super quick too. We live in Toronto and had it in the mail 3 days after we ordered it.

It good to wait for the Option C, but for people who already mailed an application in with Notice of Assessment, they accept that and it's fine. So don't fret.

Tulamoon: Keep in mind it is a lot easier to wait a couple days to send in a complete package, rather than sending anything in later and trying to add anything to your file. Inevitably "documents to follow" get lost in the crazy web of the immigration world and just add headache and anxiety. (i should know...)  Wink

It took my partner 2 days to get his Option C. I would double check to see if has been sent out and Canada post are holding it up. The lack of Option C is one of the main reasons applications are returned, CIC state this on the check list.

I would wait a couple more days, if was me.
