Thought many newcomers would find this article interesting. I also volunteer and was approached just yesterday by the supervisor about my interest and availability to work in a paid capacity for the organization as they begin to broaden the program. She said that I have both the specific skills and a work ethic that are not exhibited by their current paid staff; differences she probably wouldn't have recognized from reviewing our resumes...and the current staff has Canadian work experience which I lack.
