Hello.

I have been asked to pay PR fees, take the medical and submit a recent bank statement to show how much funds I have available in my account. Could someone please tell how much funds I am supposed to have as a minimum in order to get PR?

Can I use this money for example in business or should I keep it just for the purposes of PR? Is it OK that I use this money after I submit the final bank statement to the CIC officer processing my file?

You also have to show this money to the officer at the port of landing in Canada.

You can use any money as long as it is in your name alone and in the name if spouse if the same is listed in your application and accompanying. Otherwise, it must be in your name. A lot of people borrow money and deposit in the bank little by little to prove they have the money. That's fine. Now, the question is, if you receive you PR and have about 8 to 12 months to land in Canada, will you be able to raise that money? Because must be able to because you must provide proof of funds at the time of landing and then borrowing will not be a solution anymore.

Does this figure apply to all adults applying only? I have two children under the age of 3 so do you think they would expect to see more funds for them?

You have to search in the immigration web page, the total amount depends in the number of family members.

The funds are supposed to enough to support you and your entire family. If you are applying along with spouse and two children, regardless of their age, you must be able to prove funds for 4 people all together.

Sometimes they ask for 6 months statement, borrowing money from a friend can cause a problem when all of a sudden they will see a spike in the bank statement.

It is better not to touch the money until you show proof of funds at landing, then its yours, you can do whatever you want - even finish it in one day.

My husband is Brazilian and we're applying for his PR to Canada, and we're both currently living in Brazil (I'm Canadian, from Alberta) til he gets his PR...So currently, I'm not working, cause I can't here. How am I able to show I have money in my bank if I'm not even working right now? People have told me that as a spouse (wife) I don't need to prove my financial stability, because whether or not my husband is Canadian, he is my husband and thus is the one who provides for us...Is this true? I'm so confused...and a little worried, cause right now I have next to nothing in my bank account back home!
