Hi guys there was a show on 'the agenda' regarding immigrations.  It seems the federals are being asked to do something.  If you can watch the show online.  go ahead.

Thanks for the posting Martha. This proves once again what I said in a few earlier posts. This was going to happen one day or the other.
Anyway, one doesn't need to be rocket a scientist to know these things. Times have changed everywhere, Times are hard and there is no way Canada is and won't be affected, especially when it's biggest trade partner -USA,  is in problem economically.

The Agenda will be running immigration shows all week.  They will be available online the following day.  Also, many people have commented on our "Voices of New Canadians" video series.  We have collected a sample of the comments and posted them to a blog on our website.

It is our hope to show our viewers the forums that are actively engaged in discussing immigration issues in Canada.  The Agenda with Steve Paikin is produced by TVOntario, Ontario's educational broadcaster.  All content is produced as a public service, and is commercial free.

There is this tradition in canada mostly on public sectors that seniority follows on being shortlisted on job that you have a pplied for.

For example, if you are a temporary staff in a public sector or federal goverment, you cannot be shortlisted for interview if there is a nother internal staff that applied for that possition and that staff is permanent full term or permanent part time.

Once these Full term permanent is shortlisted, again the look at the seniority list - meaning which the Permanent full time with long term of service in sequence.  You find some have worked their for more than 20 years so they must be considered otherwise the union kicks in.  So for newcomers its very hard to secure a permanent position as those who are internal and with long term of service keep on moving from one department to another and the tradition continues.

In UK so long as you are employed either part time or permanent or short term you are all considerad equal.
