I am on a 3 year W1 work visa ( managerial position ) but I am worried about what happens if my employment is terminated by the employer ( due to market conditions these days )

- How long can I stay in Canada  after termination of employment? ( My permit ends in 2011 - Will I be allowed to stay till then without work ?? ). Does it depend on  speed of employer's actions - if they notify immigration immediately or not at all ?

- My wife has an open work visa for 3 years ( she obtained due to my permit ) but she is not currently working . Will her open work visa be valid if I lose my job ?? Are we allowed to stay in Canada with that visa ?

Thanks ...

you can stay here for the duration of your work permit and look for another job. I am in the same situation and called CIC to verify.
