What do you mean by taxes? Do you mean actual tax, or road tax (like in the UK)?

Hi

I mean actual tax

There is a tax on the purchase price when you buy it.  Depending on the province from 7% to 15%  (PST and GST or HST.)  There is no yearly tax.

In Ontario, you pay 13% on the purchase price in HST. Additionally, the plates will run you 125/year and parking permit for streets is about 14/month. Insurance will cost you about 2000/year assuming you have a good record. Additionally, you'll pay for petrol and oil changes.
The costs of ownership do addup!
