Hi there,

I am on implied status still working and have a letter from CIC saying I am allowed to work until I get my PR result. I have talked to Revenue Canada and they said I can keep using my expired SIN...now I have to do my tax return, and am nervous about submitting it with an expired SIN

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Kieran

You should be fine me and my wife did out taxes and her sin expired dec 31( she had a work visa). She still did her taxes and she got a return. My tax guy said cause the taxes are for 2010 that fact that is exspired in 2011 does not matter.

No you can still submit with the expired SIN.  My bf had to do and had no problems whatsoever.

Hi Kieran,

I am trying to get a letter from CIC to prove they received my boyfriend application(common law Inland )+ OWP , he will be in implied status soon and his employer is asking for a letter....how did you obtained it??? I've tried the call center but they apparently can't send it

thank a lot

I've had the same experience as the others. CRA doesn't seem to care about expired SINs. As long as you file they seem to be happy  Cheesy
