Hello,

I have become a permanent resident of Canada in 2008, but I lived in my country of origin until May 2011. I am still unemployed here.
I worked until now in my home country and I had a taxes on my salary there. Now, I am wondering if I need to report this income and if RCA will requires new taxes (double taxation). In other words, when I send this money from overases to Canada through the bank wire transfer, whether I need to report this money.
I would appreciate every help.

If you have residential ties (such as maintaining a home) in Canada between 2008 and May 2011, you may need to report your this income.  I think the bank will report overseas transfer money on your behalf to the Canadian govt.

Thank you for this clarification. I did not have anything in Canada in terms of any property (home, car, bank accounts, etc) between 2008 and 2011. Can you please tell me if I will have a tax on the amount transferred from overseas bank.
