If there is no finacial requirment.
do you need a letter of employment and tax returns?

Yes - you have to provide a letter of employment and the Option C form as part of your application package.

While there are technically no income requirements - CIC wants to see that you have the resources to support your spouse once they arrive.

When we filled out our application I was not employed...and still am not and our sponsorship application was approved.  My husband had an open work permit and was supporting us and our kids.  We just wrote on the application that when he gets his PR he will be working again and supporting his family like he was before he got sent back to his country.
