i know someone who did not take the IELTS and got PR. Don't know how many points they were given. I think they needed few points anyway.

I heard about somebody who claimed 5 years experience as a ESL teacher and was not asked for IELTS but I don't know if he awarded himself full points.  I also heard about somebody who had a university degree in English as a second language and was asked for IELTS.

If English is not your mother tongue, it is safer to take the IELTS before you apply, to see how many points you can give yourself to make sure you have at least 67 points.  Otherwise you are taking a chance that they will either not ask you for IELTS or that you will be able to get however many points you awarded yourself for English.  It would not be a nice situation when you have a timeline to send in your documents and you must get 16 points on IELTS.  It's not like you can take another test every day until you get a good score.  You will be limited to when they are offering the test where you live and that may only be once a month or less.

This is not a fair system. You can claim English as your mother tongue. There is no way you can get a 4 year degree in the USA without knowing high level of English. These tests are very expensive.

yes my sister she claim 16points and without ielts test because she talk to her visa officer and convencience her by phone and i think she deserve that because she working with very high qualified company and she is well qualified. But this is happen one out of 200 casses.

To add to Leon, I know people at my university which is considered really good in the US who will get their engineering graduate degree with really really bad english. Canada might just be weary of those people. Sometimes, their grammer is okay but it is hard to understand them. Remember, language is not the only way to get points, there are other ways too, like education, work experience, etc.

I would still need to prove it that my English is good right? What I think does not matter to them. I already took the IELTS but did not do so well.

If you can not get enough point with your IELTS, you should study for it and take it again.  If you don't want to do that, you need to find another way to make points.  If you choose to claim full points for English with documents and you need full points, you risk that they will ask you for IELTS and you will not be able to provide them with an IELTS for full points within 90 days and will lose your application.

Each minute you spend on here trying to figure out a way to avoid IELTS or complaining about the injustice of it is a minute you could be using to study for IELTS to get a better score.

It is better even if you have filed your application without IELTS, just keep practice and study  to appear for an exam if they ask for it.

i need 6 points more to reach 67 of total eligible points.Me and my wife both are Post graduates.Iam the main appilicant.Pls could u tell me ,what score do i need to get in IELTS.
