On reading the rejections for student visa , I was curious to know if CIC will stamp the passport as rejected if an application fails or is this limited to only a mail in the post?

Your views are much appreciated .

It does not matter whether the passport is stamped or not, as the rejection will be noted in your electronic file.

Yes understand that but it is more harmful if you have your passport sealed hence the question ?
Have anyone experienced this or know of friends/kins who faced this anytime ?

How is it MORE harmful than having the information recorded ELECTRONICALLY?

It is unlikely to be more harmful, VO's and IO's all have access to the electronic systems anyway.

Thanks Baloo/Mitali - it was my perception that it is more harmful cos I was comparing it to another situation - eg: the severeity of being penalised is not high if you get points on your drivers license when compared to a situation where you are court convicted - although both of these scenarios will result in penalty .

Once you are honest abt the rejection in the background declaration, i should not affect your application unless  the reason for rejection raises serious security concerns....Mandie

but just to clarify. everytime your passport is submitted for a visa at the canadian VO, it is stamped.
  • if approved - with a visa and a stamp on the last page and a serial no. (handwritten)
  • if rejected - with a stamp on the last page and serial no. (handwritten). Plus a cross /some mark on the stamp.

Rejection doesn't matter as long as you are scoring enough points and you were honest in your previous application like no fraudulent documents also if an applicant has a rejection earlier they screened there documents more thorughly.

Dont worry dear. they have nothing to do with rejection. This is a separate case so they will deal with merit.

Mate you need to mentioned in your application that you previously applied as well. As far as applying again it wnt affect your new application as long as you have required points and you didnt submit any fraudlent documents in ur previous application.CHC has all the records as your application got refused in 2009 only.
