Hello guys,
My common law partner got accepted at a university in ontario. We are romanian citizens, living in US.
1. I am wondering what are the procedures to apply for a student visa? Do we need a lawyer to fill the papers?
2. We should apply in the same time for a work permit (i mean when he is going to apply for a student visa)? Or we have to do it after we get in canada?

Thanks much!

1.  All the information you need is here: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/permit_study-etudes_permis.aspx?lang=eng
2.  For you to work the study permit has to be for

"Applicants must provide evidence that they are:
• the spouse or common-law partner of a holder of a study permit who is attending full-time a
post-secondary institution, which is a also a publicly-funded degree or diploma-granting
institution or a private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees (as noted
above);
