Hello. I have been in Canada for over 7 years with my Study Permit. My Study Permit will expire in September 2012. My Canadian girlfriend and I are planning to get married this July.

My question is: If I apply for PR in July after the wedding, the process will take about a year, then could I still stay in Canada after my study permit expires during the process? If yes, what is my status?  can I still go to school as international student while waiting for the result?

Who have been to this case or who knows about this, please answer me. Thank you!

After marriage your wife should sponsor you to get your PR. Then your status will be changed accordingly on approval of PR application. An out land application will also take time. Therefore  you should apply to renew your study permit if you want to study longer. It is important to apply well before your current permit expires to ensure your permit remains valid. Check whether you are qualified to apply in Canadian Experience Class category.
