Hi

The Gov't has diplomatic couriers who accompany shipments around the world.  It is not a very high paying job, but lots of travel. They carry a "diplomatic bag" with highly sensitive documents, while other documents/files ride as cargo.  The courier meets and accompanies the cargo off the flight and accompanies it to it's destination or turns it over at the destination to the local courier.

You learn a new thing everyday!  Thanks!

Thanks PMM and rjessome! That is the kind of spy movie stuff I was thinking about. Not as glamorous in real life but it still sounds like it LOL

Absolutely positive.  Applications received by CPC Mississauga and forwarded on for processing to overseas visa posts are sent by diplomatic courier.

rjessome: Not sure if this is the proper place to ask but I was a bit curious. With the PR card, does CIC send an application on your behalf to Nova Scotia, or how does that work? And would them doing so be impacted by Canada Post or do they have other means to send it? Thanks!  Smiley

CIC/CBSA take care of this for the initial application of a PR card when you land.  You don't have to send anythng to Sydney.  Yes, initial issuance of the PR card will be impacted by the postal strike.  I haven't checked today to see what, if any, alternative measures CIC is using for this.

Diplomatic courier bag.  The strike will have no affect on this.

Thank you again rjessome .. YOU ROCK!

Well I knew I wouldn't have to apply for the first PR card after landing but I just wasn't sure if they just notify CIC and then just process it or what. Thank you for informing me of all of this. Please let us know if you find out anything new about it.
