To qualify, applicants must have been working in the United Stated on a valid H1B visa for at least one year in an occupation considered "in-demand" in Alberta. No job offer is required for this category.
The list of occupations has recently been expanded so that more H1B holders can be considered as candidates.
Additionally, two new categories have been added to the Strategic Recruitment Stream.
The Compulsory trades category is for skilled tradespeople who are currently residing in Alberta and have worked for an Alberta employer in a trade listed on Alberta's Compulsory Trades list.
The Engineering Occupations Category is for qualified engineers, designers, and drafters who are currently residing in Alberta and have worked for an Alberta employer in an occupation listed on Alberta's Engineering Occupations Lists.
