The list of schools that qualify for off campus work permits is on the following page of the CIC site:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

Since this information has been taken from the CIC site - this is the official source. Stouffville College and LSFB listed aren't listed. If they aren't listed - no off campus work permit.

I just visited the Stouffville College web site. The part time work they are referring to is the work co-op (not the off campus work permit).

You can work off campus through a co-op if this job is part of your academic program.

Information is here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-coop.asp

Have you visited the CIC site? All of the information is there.

A co-op means that working off campus is part of your diploma or degree. For example, at the University of Waterloo, one of the engineering degree programs requires that you work for a few months with an engineering company in order to finish your degree. This is what a co-op is. The work MUST be required by your diploma or degree.

So no - you cannot work at just any store or hotel.

They either qualified for a co-op - or they are working illegally.
