I will have to get from IL, KY and NC. IL -- i think it is the $20 application, the other one is non-fingerprint method. You can request the card online. KY -- $20 and NC -- $14. FBI -- $18. So a total of $72/person! I think i better start now...

Why do you think we need the $20 one from IL? Why not go for the cheaper one? The CIC website does not say anything about needing fingerprints for State police certificate.

I am so upset that IL and NY do not let the forms to be downloaded online. According to their websites, we need to request the forms, they mail them to us, fill them out and send them back again for police checks. What a waste of time. I thought they were well ahead of Alabama and Utah on these kind of things, but looks like they still have a lot to learn from AL and UT (AL and UT let you download forms online).

Please tell me when one should apply for Security Clearnace,
Should I wait for AINP approval and then apply for PCC, etc....

These PCC should go with application when we sent to CIC/buffalo ?

From the forum here, i have observed that PCC takes in all 2 months (Federal,State,Home Country/Consulate (in my case it is India)Huh )

Please suggest the safest and times saving option

Also please be aware of its validity... I heard from forum that it has to be done in last 3 months prior to sending them to CIC.

aNewHope,
i requested the Cert to be sent to me.

nix,
i am going with the cheapest option wherever available also. NC also has the same convoluted method - send a signed request, then they send you the form and "instructions" and then you send the actual form... is gonna take me weeks before i get anywhere close to getting done. what a pain!

Is it possible to obtain state police clearance if a person is outside USA? I was planning to leave USA after medical. What will happen if I leave USA and CIC ask for state clearance?

I applied for Alabama State Police Certificate on March 11 and today I received a letter that is making me angry and laugh at the same time.

They need a letter of intent and the letter is to include "a reason why you are immigrating to Canada"

They sound like the CIC people. Why the heck Alabama needs to know why I am immigrating to Canada. I sent them 2 fingerprint cards where it clearly said it was for Canadian Immigration Purpose. I also filled out their form and also included a request letter and mentioned that I am immigrating to Canada, but never thought that they need to know a REASON.

The guy in my local police station asked me the same question too, but I think he was just curious why I am moving to Canada. I think it was part of a coversation while doing the boring fingerprint thing. But Alabama, sending an official letter with red color "confidential" stamps at least four places (on the envelope and letter itself) and asking for written explanation why I am moving to Canada was kind of surprising to me. Anyway, I am putting together a short letter to fax them right now.

ummm.... cause the US will tolerate all sorts of illegal immigrants, but won't give me a green card even though I am a highly qualified, US educated, tax paying, law abiding Non Resident Alien? duhh Smiley

I think this should suffice, no?

That's exactly what I wanted to tell them, but I tried to be nice and gave them 3 good things about Canada as the reasons of immigrating there: 1. Peaceful Country 2. Affordable Higher Education 3. Better Healthcare System.

I called her later to make sure she received my fax and she had it in front of her and I asked her what she thought about my reasons. She told me that they were more than she needed to know. Then I asked her, you wanted to know the reasons, right? And she said, yes, but did not need that detail. Hopefully, she will send my background check soon.

Is this the last US PCC for you? If I remember correctly, you had everything else ready.
