Shattering news....

The hopes and expectations of so many....no feelings at all!!! This means discussions were already on (no leakage, that's a surprise) to take such a decision. Just imagine...those who were expectantly waiting that at some stage they would make a new beginning in a new country...It's  a complete letdown after providing hope.

God forbid...Accountants are not on current list...the Canadian Govt.may well decide to reduce the backlog a bit more...Then what do we do? Just keep fingers crossed and keep praying that everything goes well.

They were definitely working on backlog cases. I know a couple of them who got their visas in last 2 or 3 years.

Also it is not about the amount of files they can process, but the number of immigrants they can let in.

The approximate number of immigrants in Canada(in all streams) is 2.5 lakh.
There are waits everywhere in family category(especially for parents), business category, etc

The only way to reduce backlog will be to reduce the number of applications, which they started since June 2010.

They cound'nt be working concurrently ,had they been doing so the back log would not have been created at all

DBC, OMG, edmonta, kavya and others

It is too early to predict anything, I do fear same thing as DBC is but logic does not support it but than again I don't trust politicians.
Immigration minister is blaming previous government for backlog of approx 300000 but they still have MI -1 which almost 160000 and immigration minister him self is responsible for it. How come a doctor in MI-2 and MI-3 gets priority over a doctor in MI-1. It is important to note here that the reason behind different priorities is to manage the supply and demand of NOC candidate in canada. (does it make sense that a doctor in MI-1 is less in demand than MI-2, MI-3) biggest Bullsh**.

That's not fair for the people , who had been waiting since last 8-9 years for the Canadian PR. The reason Mr Kenney is so determine to eliminate the pre feb 2008 files as its been created by the Liberal government .  This is a gross injustice done by the Mr Kenney , if this can happen to 300000 pre feb 2008 , it might happen to MI1 as well.

Thanks DBC,

Our process will speed up, but not due to psychological pressure of backlog, but because there shall be more seats available for us.
You can check the number of immigrants Canada welcomed and processed at the link below.

http://www.data.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=En&n=5175A6F0-1&xsl=datacataloguerecord&metaxsl=datacataloguerecord&formid=427337D0-7C36-4FED-8428-C6A63F8C19B3

The thing is that Canada can only assimilate certain amount of immigrants for the whole immigration system to be profitable.
When new immigrants land in Canada they buy property and services, contribute to the taxes(which helps maintain social security etc) and fill up jobs. In short money circulates and hence the immigration system is profitable to canadian govt.

You are a financial manager, you have better understanding of it than me.

Also to be noted is that the average age of backlog applicants would have increased a lot, because of which they no longer fit the profile of ideal immigrant(at no fault of them).

The average age of immigrant family will no longer fit the ideal immigrant profile.

Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney suggested Wednesday the possibility of legislating away Canada's backlog of immigration applications.

"We're looking at all options for dealing with these backlogs... It's not fair to [applicants] and it's not fair to our economy," said Kenney.

The federal government has already moved in this direction: according to the Montreal Gazette deals have been struck with eight provinces and territories to sort through the backlog of Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) applications to move qualified applicants (who are interested) to these province's Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Applicants will have to adhere to different criteria for each province, which can be different than the original qualifying criteria of the FSW applications.

According to the Globe & Mail, Minister Kenney described a vision of Canada moving towards an expressionist system, whereby "applicants would consent to having their application sifted by businesses and the provinces, to see who might be wanted where."

The gist of Kenney's comments suggest the government aims to find ways to significantly reduce the government's backlog of immigration applications, while providing a more responsive and quicker process in the future, especially to better match up potential immigrants with the provinces and employers who need them.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is selectively contacting applicants from the FSW program when they are eligible to be moved to a PNP program. For example, in the case of Ontario, some applicants from the following occupations are being contacted to see if they are interested in immigrating under the Ontario PNP:

NOC 2171 – Computer Analysts and Consultants
    NOC 2173 – Software Developers
NOC 2174 – Interactive Media Programmers and Developers
NOC 1112 – Financial and Investment Analysts
    NOC 2161 – Mathematicians

Other provinces may be dealing with the application process differently.

That does mean that, this is not like one night decision. Its been under process from couple of months to reduce backlog by all the mean and ways. What other thing I can see is that, they have communicated to those who are eligible for PNP program from pre feb

What to say?

The Gist is

MI 1/2/3 are all brain child's of the present Immigration minister , Its a different world out there Ministers cannot say "oops" i made a Mistake Unlike there counterparts in the sub continent

they have to deal with the applications they sought

Since pre 8 applicants were not his problem for him so he was able to wash his hands off them

may not be easy for for post 2008 applicants

It is evident from the forum that all VO have started issuing medicals to Pre june applicants except NDVO

I am sure its a Matter Of days now before things start moving

Now what can we say for the reply got by this applicant from London VO.
He applied to CIO in March 2010, 1st AOR in May 2010 and full documents sent 6 Sept 2010.

All

FYI...............

My ecas status has been In Process since October 2011 with RBVO message. However, today 29-03-12 i received a letter from the London office confirming that my application...I quote.... "has been reviewed by an officer and found to be eligible for further processing. We anticipate to being able to advise you of the next processing steps in 6 to 12 month's time".

It went further and said...I quote..." please note that your application is still subject to admissibility checks and verifications that are deemed necessary. You should not take any irrevocable ations like.....sell your house, quite your job" etc....hahahaha (am not that a fooooolllll...lol).

But basically, it means that the completion time window for pre-june 2012 applicants is most likely to be March 2013.....according to this letter.

Which however suites me very well because i have other pressing projects to tackle.

Just FYI all...

cheers
