hello please help, i have move to canada the last two months, our country is visa exempt, so we are allowed to stay for six months, but i am  to married my bf which is canadian, i was previous marry but is now divorce, but my passport is still is my ex surname, which i cant change now because its going to take a long while to change, am in the posess of applying for my spouse visa, can i use my passport that is still in my previous surname, since al my police records came through in my previous certificate, your help will be appreciated because i need to start applying for my spouse visa.

If you don't change your passport name before you apply for spousal sponsorship, you can still apply. But your name on ALL the paperwork on the immigration application needs to match the name on your passport.

Once you obtain permanent residency, you can send in your marriage license and get your name changed on both your passport and PR card.
