That is a must. You have to go. If you have a good reason not to go it's fine you can do nika over the phone or go to pakistan consulate and do your nika. For making pic you have to take ur ceremony with a big picture of the boy/girl your getting married too. Just put the pic on the table or even hold it and take few pics. Save your other proofs such as phone bills. chats, emails, etc....
But it will be much better if u go.

anyways babarkhan you have to go when your application is in process. They will ask you how come within this much time you never went to see your wife?  You can't say ' you could not afford a airline ticket ' lol For couples who's marriage is genuine they miss each other and go for visit.

After the medical, Her file is in islamabad right now. The initial application was sent on Nikkah basis. I am going back to Pakistan next month to do the rukhsati and walima. After thats done, am planning to send a letter to Canadian High Commision ISB stating the out marital status has been updated and that we are sending additional information including all the photos, copies of my travel tickets and phone records e.t.c. I will appreciate if someone could guide me if I am missing something here. Also, some people have posted on the forums that they dont have a file # yet. I think my wife didnt get one either. Do i need to contact ISB office to get a file number? Any information will be highly appreciated.

We both have a same case. I applied last year in May 2011 on the basis of Nikkah and got my file number somewhere in August 2011 via email. If you want I can send you the format of the email I sent to get my file number. My Husband and his family came to Pakistan last month for wedding. It took me around a month to gather the additional proof / supporting documents that  I'm planning to send CHC-Islamabad this Saturday. My supporting documents includes the following:

à copy of my husband's passport showing entry/exit stamps
à phone bills, chats, facebook private msgs snapshots and other miscellaneous emails
àPre and Post wedding outings pictures with our families
à Mehendi, Shadi and Valima pictures
àOur Honeymoon pictures
àBooking receipt of Salon
àBooking receipt of Mehendi, Shadi and Valima Halls
àInvitation cards (Mehendi, Shadi and Valima)
àReceipt of stay at a hotel (After Wedding)
àMiscellaneous receipts of stay at a hotel (Honeymoon Trip)
àCopy of E-tickets for Karachi to Islamabad & Islamabad to Karachi
àSanapshot of OUR Facebook wall (family and friends congratulating us on our wedding)

It's good ur going back.  Your marriage can be proved as genuine when u miss ur wife and u go back to see her. It is a must for everyone to go back because they could ask u how come in all this time u never went back to see ur wife/husband? more questions like this will arise. I'm also going for a visit.
For file # I also did not received my husband's AOR so I emailed the CIC M. Within 3 days I got a reply back.

Hi everyone. I mentioned in my earlier message that I sponsored my wife in may of 2011 on nikah basis and  am visiting PAK next month in order to do the rukhsati and valima and after that am planning to send all the proofs to ISB office. My question is if I need to fill out any kind of form to be sent along with everything else ? Also, would someone be kind enough to may be give me a sample letter that needs to be sent to inform them about the update of my marital status. Any info will be highly appreciated.
