Spouse sponsorship drivers license

Hi I recently applied to sponsor my husband in Canada as his expired. I am Canadian and he has worked in Canada for over 5 years. He is under visitor status for the 11 months it takes to be accepted or refused. He can't drive for this amount of time!! His license expired why can't he renew? This makes no sense! Please can anyone help!

I got my licence (G1) 2 days after getting to Canada - never asked about my status...... month later i applied and sat my G test.

What is a g1? He got his license when he came on a working visa. That visa has expired so we applied for spouse sposorship. Now hes a visitor and told he can't drive. His license expired too

In Ontario, there are 3 grades of licence - G1, G2 and G (full),

If your husband still has a licence from his home country, see if he can get an international licence - it is good for 90 days anyway.

Might be different in BC, but i don't see how his immigration status makes any difference to his drivers licence

who told him he cant drive?

i think you should get a second opinion, and try about the international licence - i used it for a while before i sat the G test - the G1 was only to be able to register my truck.
Very few insurers give a police on International though - i changed policy as soon as i got G
