May question ako mga sis, i`m hoping somebody will share their experience. 

Me and my future husband are planning to stay in Cebu and hopefully get married this October.  Tanong ko sino ang nakakuha ng Legal Capacity to Marry sa Canadian Embassy Cebu City.

Sandali lang naman yon..kasi kami medyo natagalan sa loob kasi nagjamming pa kami ni Consul Robert..Bawal ang fiancee pumasok but when Mr Lee spotted  me outside the his office he let me in...  He is such a nice person..pagkatapos sa consular uwi na kami sa Bohol..

Did you have to fill out the application form for PR card?  Im preparing na kasi all the documents and forms na kailangan pagdating e.g health insurance and SIN.

For PR, you don't have to fill out a form to get a PR card. It's automatic. When you land, an immigration officer will ask for your COPR and have you sign something. You will receive your PR card in the mail in 4 weeks (max). For SIN, you also need your COPR and the actual SIN card will be mailed to you within 2 weeks. For Health Card, depending on which province, you will have to wait for 3 months to get your health card. You need to show a proof that you are indeed a resident of the province, you can show bills such as phone bills or banking statement. SIN and Health Card applications are processed in Service Canada centers...for example, in Ontario, you have to go to Service Ontario..in New Brunswick, it's Service New Brunswick...There are forms there that you can fill out...

 IF you're still within the processing time... dont bother calling CEM dahil ito rin po ang sasabihin sa inyo... na "your application is still within the processing time"...  Pwede kayong mag inquire pag lampas na kayo sa processing time..   Processing time starts after CEM receive your package and issuance of AOR.

Hi I am wondering about obtaining the GCC from CFO in Manila. I checked on 2 websites. One site says the seminar is available everyday monday to friday 3 times each day for Canada spousal seminar. Other website says it is only Tuesdays and Fridays for Canadian spousal seminar. Does anyone know what is correct? Also, is it easy to get in this seminar or is it too busy and some are turned away? My wife is in Davao so she will have to fly in. I am hoping we can just do this on our way to Canada by staying one day in Manila. But I don't want to show up on the wrong day or on a day that we are refused because too many people. Does anyone have a comment?

hi, GCS is done monday to friday and its first come first serve basis,  better to arrive before 8am. ya, you can stay one day in manila and it will be done in a day.

Thanks for sharing your experience and the well wishes.  It has been a difficult two years of separation and i`m glad that we will be reunited very soon. 
I think it will be best for us to get the Legal Capacity to Marry at the Canadian Embassy, Manila because in Cebu you have to make an appointment (i read that from CIC website).  And we want to apply for a marriage licence right away because his vacation is only 18 days.  I`ll tell my husband to be to get a flight from Vancouver to Manila with an early morning arrival.  In the next few months it will be my turn to ask a lot of questions as i prepare our Spousal Application.  I thank all the people in this forum for their unselfishness in sharing their knowledge, experiences and support.

hi, i'll share with u what we did.
my husband only stayed for 21 days only, actually he was supposed to stay for less than that, he just extended it. when i picked him up at NAIA on jan 13 '11, we went straight to canadian embassy to get his legal capacity. we arrived there 1pm, there was no line at all so we were done in 30mins. after that we went straight to binan laguna city hall to apply for the marriage license. we were told that it will be released jan 26 '11 (10 business days).  we had our civil wedding on the same day of the release.

please check canadian embassy website coz im not sure if you can get legal capacity everyday so better to check it out first. also, have your marriage cert endorsed para mbilis ang release ng NSO. coz normally, it will take 3mos or so but if its endorsed you can get it in a month or less.  when you request for the NSO copy, also request for Advisory on Marriage. try to get at least 2 copies of both coz sometimes CEM will ask again.

btw, never try to get a marriage license without waiting for 10 days coz embassy knows about the 10 day waiting and since your spouse' arrival is reflected in his passport it will create problem.

Yes, 95ph yung payment yata sa DHL pero sa tuwa binigyan ko ng 400ph para pang merienda..
