hehe thanks =)

1. Should the sponsor declare the start of his employment when he first got hired by an agency or should he declare the date when he got hired as a permanent employee

2 Did you put your names and client ids on evidence documents such as plane tickets, wedding details, etc.

3. While being a PR of Canada, he flew back ere in the Phils before. While here, he worked in our agency, so question is, should we declare that he worked while staying in the phils? won`t he get questioned with regards to tax or something?

thanks  Smiley

1. Should the sponsor declare the start of his employment when he first got hired by an agency or should he declare the date when he got hired as a permanent employee

ANS: IMO if this is about employment history better to write exactly the employment history for the beginning from his first job up the present. The key here is to be clear and in details without skipping anything.

2 Did you put your names and client ids on evidence documents such as plane tickets, wedding details, etc.

ANS: NO need.. over kill na yun...  Grin Grin  Only write the name & client ID of the sponsor on the envelope where you're going to put all your documents before submitting to CEM.  Once CEM receive your document they can easily see your client ID on the envelope and include your additional document in their filling system.

3. While being a PR of Canada, he flew back ere in the Phils before. While here, he worked in our agency, so question is, should we declare that he worked while staying in the phils? won`t he get questioned with regards to tax or something?

ANS: Im not sure if this will raise a tax concern... I'll let the others answer this for you....  Wink But if you ask me... If the work duration is not that long I will not declare it.  Smiley  To me it is a material information but not relevant to cause error in your PR application. though this somewhat contradict the number# 1 answer. lol  Grin Grin

Just post your question and we will try to answer them as we can.  Wink

May question ako mga sis, i`m hoping somebody will share their experience.

Me and my future husband are planning to stay in Cebu and hopefully get married this October.  Tanong ko sino ang nakakuha ng Legal Capacity to Marry sa Canadian Embassy Cebu City.

Thanks.

Hello, I will try to answer. I hope I understand your situation because I don't really speak tagalog. Canadian marrying a Filipino. I don't think Canadian can get "legal capacity to marry" from Cebu because the Cebu office is not an actual embassy. You can call them to check if possible but I doubt it. Since most international flights go through Manila to get to Cebu, have the Canadian stop in Manila to go embassy. Go first thing in the morning to avoid long line ups. Allow for at least 4 hours to be safe. You receive the "legal capacity to marry" on the same day. I did this, arrived in Manila early in the morning, went to embassy for 8 AM opening, got back to the airport before noon same day for my flight to Davao. Filipino partner needs to get "CENOMAR" from NSO. If Filipino is female under 25 I think you may need to attend a seminar which is usually at city hall. Good luck and congratulations on engagement.

Hi I am wondering about obtaining the GCC from CFO in Manila. I checked on 2 websites. One site says the seminar is available everyday monday to friday 3 times each day for Canada spousal seminar. Other website says it is only Tuesdays and Fridays for Canadian spousal seminar. Does anyone know what is correct? Also, is it easy to get in this seminar or is it too busy and some are turned away? My wife is in Davao so she will have to fly in. I am hoping we can just do this on our way to Canada by staying one day in Manila. But I don't want to show up on the wrong day or on a day that we are refused because too many people. Does anyone have a comment?

salamat

Thanks for sharing your experience and the well wishes.  It has been a difficult two years of separation and i`m glad that we will be reunited very soon.
I think it will be best for us to get the Legal Capacity to Marry at the Canadian Embassy, Manila because in Cebu you have to make an appointment (i read that from CIC website).  And we want to apply for a marriage licence right away because his vacation is only 18 days.  I`ll tell my husband to be to get a flight from Vancouver to Manila with an early morning arrival.  In the next few months it will be my turn to ask a lot of questions as i prepare our Spousal Application.  I thank all the people in this forum for their unselfishness in sharing their knowledge, experiences and support.

I might add. I think it might be difficult to get the papers AND get married in the same 18 day period. There is a waiting period after getting marriage license. Please investigate all this first. I had to make 2 trips. I arrived on May 4 got my "legal capacity to marry" from embassy that morning, on the plane to Davao in afternoon. Engagement party that evening, lots of pictures. Applied for license in the morning May 5, little running around to satisfy requirements. My wife over 25 so they say no need for the seminar. But only then could we book the wedding with local mayor, not easy to do. And we had to wait 14 days to pick up the marriage license (mandatory waiting period). I had to go home and make 2nd trip couple weeks later to marry on the May 20. Then honeymoon after of course. Make sure you plan everything in advance to make sure you can get it done in 18 days WOW and gl. Don't forget lots of photos of both of you together. Engagement, wedding, honeymoon, family etc.

I just wanted to mention that there is a Canadian consulate in Cebu City where you can go to acquire an affidavit in lieu of the certificate for legal capacity to marry.  My experience was that I had to acquire a certificate of non-marriage from Vital Statistics Canada.  I was told to get it authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs Canada but I think that any notary public can authenticate the certificate of non-marriage because that's how I did it for mine.  I made an appointment with the Consul through email and it was no problem getting the affidavit the same day.  I brought my passport, birth certificate, and 2 other pieces of ID (I used my driver's license and social insurance card).  Good luck.

Best is to pay EVERYTHING before submitting your application but since you did not pay the RIght for permanent residence fee, wait for the letter requesting for your payment. But consider delay in processing because once you paid the fee, it still has to be verified. I know they accept money order or you can pay online.
