Hello, I have applied for my husband to come to Canada and my husband completed everything and i have sent everything to the visa office in Damascus including the medical exam and police record. They received the application on May 3rd 2011 and since then i didn't hear anything new about it only once when i contacted them and they told me its in queue and this was a few months ago. Now the situation in Damascus is getting worse and I have no idea whats going on, they don't answer my phone call or my emails, does any one know if they are actually working on the applications or if they have kept them on hold due to the conditions in Syria.
Please reply back because I am really concerned.

Hi Noora, Don't worry. This is very normal with the cases held in Damascus. They received my application on May 5th 2011 and I'm also waiting for an update too. Try to be positive and lets keep fingers crossed that all goes well.

Don't worry. They are still working on all applications. They received ours last January and we've only heard from them twice. They don't answer emails usually so it's completely normal that yours is taking this long. The processing time currently is 13 months so just be patient

They will be working on it, even if you don't hear anything from them. The embassy in Syria is not currently closed so everything there is still running normal. The reason the processing time is now 13 months is because they are short-staffed, due to the situation. That's what they told us when we called. So just be patient, it does take a long time but know that they are working

Dear Noora, As far as I know, all the files r still in Syria....the investment and skilled worker files are transferred to other countries but the marriage files are still there in Damascus. I don't know if it is a good sign or a bad sign but lets think positive about it.

Hi everyone,
I just have a couple of questions in regards to the spousal sponsorship. My spouse's application has been in Damascus Visa Office since March 29th 2011. Every time I go on e-cas, all i see is "Application Received" under "Permanent Residence Application Status". When I click on there, it just says "We received XXX's application for permanent residence on March 29, 2011.
Anyway, just a couple of days ago I checked again and this time it said:
We received XXX's application for permanent residence on March 29, 2011. Medical results have been received.
Can anyone tell me what I should expect now? By reading on the CIC website, if it says "medical results have been received" it falls under the "Decision Made" status...
Thanks!

Based on our experiences from other applicants which received their PPR from Damascus we can not count so much on e-case. But at least you can be sure that they have received your medical result and hope you we will receive your PPR very soon. By the way you can join us on Damascus thread under http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/damascusspousal-since-jan-2010-or-late-2009-t51197.10710.html Here you can share your experiences with us too.

But in the email my husband recived in the time of file transfer, they said: Due to the recent situation in Syria, your relative's application will not be sent to the visa office in Damascus at this time. Instead, their file has been temporarily diverted to the case processing office in Ottawa, Canada, to initiate processing

I also heard that the cic started a pilot center in Ottawa to process family sponsorship, but can't find any details on their processing time estimate!!

They will not process the files in Ottawa. In mid of march all stocked files will be transferred to the final VO.
