I am the main applicant. Since my wife will be my dependent on the application, will she have to take the IELTS too?

Depends on what you are applying for.  I think for FSW you get points for language but spouse doesn't matter at all.  For AB PNP, they require basic english or french for both applicant and spouse if they are being sponsored as family, basic english for semi skilled workers but I could not find requirements for spouse of skilled worker.
