Hello everyone,
My husband (sponsor) and I are collecting the paperwork we need to apply for my PR. As part of the proof of intention to reside in Canada when the PR is granted, we're sending details of his ongoing investments, RRSP contributions and active bank accounts in Canada (along with a letter from his boss stating that he is contracted to return to Canada within 18 months).
Our question is, can we black out some of his financial details in these documents, such as bank account numbers or other sensitive information? We're concerned about other people having access to this information.
Thanks in advance!
There's Credit Bureau.. So you can't hide anything.. So everything must be declared i think...

We don't mean to black out information such as how much money he has, but sensitive information that could be misused by other people that happen to see it. Is this a fair concern?

You could, but I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not. I didn't black out anything like that since they DO work for the Government and need clearance. But if it's a concern of yours, maybe call the call centre and ask? They might be able to tell you if it would affect your application.

It seems to be very difficult to get through to the Immigration Officials via telephone. I was told by the Canadian immigration to contact the head office but easier said than done. I am still unsure about going ahead with the immigration process because I don't have the proper paperwork to show (Income Tax Statements) since I have been living in the US for the last 10 years. How can I sponsor him when I can't show an income? It seems like so much red tape. Would it be eaiser to hire a lawyer to get this done?

Hi , I sponsored my husband 2010.Canada approved in a month and send to Sri Lanka May 2010. Still he didn't get his visa.he received 3 reply from , saying processing or we will call for a interview. Last sep 2011 , he received his last email From them.I talk to 3 Canadian MP.I asked one Scarborough Tamil mp, she said I have to deal with my own mp. I live in Brampton. I tried 2 Brampton mp's .both mp's assistant 's are indians , so they are not sure about Sri lankan process.1 mp's assistant email srilankan office.no reply for last 6 weeks.they asking to simply wait.
I am really Frustrated now .i married 2010 .what's the best way to handle this case. I working full time for last 6 years & own house.

Yes, you can. I blacked out account numbers, not the amount of money. But since they work for the Government, if they really want to find something out, they will. Account numbers are your private information, and, if you want to, you can black it out with no consequence. If they really want your account number, they have other means of finding it out, but they have to ask for your permission, according to the law, unless there is criminal activity involved. However it is your right to black it out.

Anybody who wants to do a credit check on you on any credit bureau, has to ask for your permission to do it, unless there is criminal activity involved, in which case they can relase the information without your consent. So, again, it is your law protected right to hide your private information, if you choose to, with no consequence.

The copy from the post office showing it has been delivered is proof enough now that they received it.
