Hello
I am new to this site, so sorry if I am posting in the wrong place.
I am marrying a Canadian citizen on May 12th after being together for over a year. Currently I have visitor visa status as I am a UK citizen, however this expires mid-June. IF my application to extend my visitor visa is denied, am I allowed to stay here anyway whilst we apply for permanent residency? I do not want to have to go back to England for 6months-a year...
Please help, I cannot find information anywhere.
Natalie.

No, you can not stay anyway if you are denied. You would risk being deported but it is not very likely that you would get denied if you say you are applying for sponsorship. Even better if you have already applied by the time you apply to extend. Also make sure you apply outland through London instead of inland. You will get your PR much faster.

Is the medical check done simultanously with the background check, or does one precedes the other?
Done simultanously..

Hi everybody
I would like to ask you a question please. I'm a Canadian citizen, currently living in Prague and I'm sponsoring my spouse in order for us to move to Canada, more specifically Quebec. In the application form IMM 0008 that has to be filled out by my husband – the principal applicant, they are asking if he has received his Certficat de Selection du Quebec. The answer is no. However, he has never applied for it so he can't enter any date in the required space. Does he then have to apply for it first? I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks a lot for your answer!

Hi, I am getting married to my Brazilian girlfriend in India next feb and I want to bring her with me to Canada. I am on a work visa right now and also have applied for my PR. My question is can i invite her to visit and stay with me in Canada? What legal work needs to be done in order to bring her here on a visitor visa? Also, to make process easier, can i marry her in Canada on a work visa? What's the better way to invite her and then apply for sponsorship when i get my PR
Sorry for so many questions, i am little bit worried about this.
Thanks

Quote from: CharlieD10 on April 21, 2012, 11:41:51 am Your passport is counted as a travel document. It is not also counted under civil status and identity documents, which is why you need the birth certificate or national ID, separate and apart from your passport.
Thanks.. as I understand, I need a Notary to translate the documents. The question is do I need only Notary signature or I also need a government signature that authorize the Notary signature?

Can I provide my Israeli ID as my "Identity and civil status" document? as it says IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS Provide the following: •birth certificates, •baptismal certificates or, •other official document confirming relationship for you and each of your family members. (including all pages of Household Registries, except CIS residents).
Please confirm because each translation is a rip off!!!

Yeah, i saw that too.. Thanks anyways.. Im just worried coz i got a medical request last thursday..but i already had my medicals last september 2011.. So just want to know if ottawa forwarded my medical results to my country.. It is possible they want to confirm something in your medical, maybe a hint of something they want clarification on. Sometimes on first medical results are not always clear. Probably nothing really to worry about, just one of those things we have to do to keep the process moving forward.

Hopefully we can get it soon. Thanks everyone and good luck to our application! Hello, every case is different. But yours seems to be processing at the quickest pace indicating no complications or problems. Usually I think you can tell by checking timelines of others who have gone before. The trend seems to be if you get early PP request you tend to get early DM and visa. Not always, but a pretty good correlation. You are about 2 weeks after my case. We received DM last thursday and visa on saturday. Take care and little patience you are probably very close.

Hello everyone,
I have a question and hope some one could help me with that.
"I heard about a new regulation that may be coming into place that would dictate that a couple would have to be married for 2 years after spousal sponsorship or the immigrant would lose his PR"
Is this true?
Thanks for the help in advance.

This rule hasn't been put in place yet - however CIC has said this rule will likely be introduced in the near future.

Hi scylla, Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. If this rule takes place, would it effect some one who has already immigrated to Canada?!

Why not just send your birth certificate OR your national ID? You only need one or the other for identity and civil status.
