Hi All,
I have a situation and would like anyones advise.
here's the situation. i'm bound for a business trip next 2wks from now to the US, will be there for a couple of months stay. will propably be back to singapore mid to end of june. if in case i get my canada PR approved with visa before my travel. i was thinking that i can do my landing during this trip coming from US. thing is i can only stay in canada for a week. will it be sufficient?
another question is when i do landing can i do either by boarder or airport? i was thinking like my wife just fetch me at buffalo airport and cross the boarder with her driving!
i want it this way so that i will not take another trip back again and save money. Also, my meds expiring sometime in july that means visa will surely expire same time and will be tight on schedule.
Thanks all!

1. Yes, a week is sufficient. You need to ensure that if you are not returning to Canada soon that someone is at the address listed on your COPR to receive your PR card and forward it to you. 2. Yes, border or airport, same process.

Definitely send fax (not email, they do not open emails with att. ( so I was told)) to your VO, and keep copy for yourself. You do not have to wait for them to ask if you do that is additional 6-8 weeks processing time. And as for Mississauga, fax them too, and then mail it. Better safe than sorry. I did the same thing .
thanks alot lucky rain .

hello all
I got a QUESTION . I 've got the RPRF fee paid online by visa. I just wanna make sure I'm doing it right. I'm going to send a printed recipt of payment , filled with my wife's info( applicant) , to the CPC mississauga ,
and should I Email or fax a copy to Ankara embassy ? our file is in process since march 8, 2012 at ankara. my agent didn't ask me to pay the RPRF fee upfront at the time , I paid it directly so the application doesn't get stuck for another couple of months.
cheers
also shoud I give the address of the applicant , and her info as well? Is there any fax no. for CPC mississauga?

It is quite possible that he will have a problem. If he has access to the child, he can take her for medicals. Immigration does not want people to exclude their children from possible later sponsorship unless they have no choice.
Currently it may not be an issue but what happens if the ex is in an accident and dies? If his daughter does not get the medical, he can never sponsor her. He should talk to his ex about this. Same if the daughter later, say at 18 would like to get PR to be able to study in Canada or work for the summer or something like that. She will not thank her mom for having made that impossible.
Hi Leon, thank you for your reply to my posting.. I did read it awhile back and meant to thank you before now.. But since then, an email, within the week of immigration receiving her letter stating she would not allow her daughter to have the medical, arrived to her saying medical would not be necessary for the daughter.. so my next question is how does this affect furture sponsorship of his daughter should it become necessary, since immigration are the ones who say she doesnt need it.. And also would this be considered a set back in the processing time? I'm sorry if this does not make sense as I am gettin impatient waiting for some word from them.. our package was received in sept /11 , my portion was completed in nov/11 sent to buffalo then forwarded to detroit, where they started his portion in Feb/12... what do you think? how much longer should we expect to wait, and can I start from Sept counting the months? .. like I said i'm all over the place emotionally , waiting to get my husband home with me.. Thank you for any info you can give.

If the daughter doesn't get the medical and isn't included in the application, then she can never be sponsored.

I have a question, hoping someone has some insight.
I received a request for more medical tests/reports from the London visa office, and I have 90 days from the date of the letter to comply with the request. However, it took them 20 days to mail it and it was mailed second class so here I am having lost 24 of those days.
I have 65 days left now, or a little over 9 weeks. One of the tests they are requesting has a timeframe (specifically by THEIR request) of 6-8 weeks so I am not confident about making their 90 day deadline.
My question is, what actually happens if one fails to meet the visa office's deadline for additional information?

[quote by Leon] Then he does not have to sponsor them. He only has to register them for citizenship if he didn't already. You can find the application forms here: It takes forever to get the citizenship cards but if you have definite plans to move, say flight tickets and you may need the cards to enroll them in schools etc., you can ask for expedited processing. On your application forms, you will include the children in the additional family information form but leave them out of the IMM0008 form because they are already citizens and not a part of your application. Leon. I wish we'd noticed you'd added another reply, as we sent off complete PR application forms for myself, (principal app) and all the children, yesterday!! This is what we were told originally to do when we rang the Canadian High Commision in London. We are now thinking we have made a huge cock-up. Is this going to affect our application/time span, or have we just wasted a whole lot of money on forms and medicals for 5 children! HELP

HELP If they are his biological children, he was already a citizen before they were born and he gained his citizenship either by being born in Canada or by being naturalized, then they are citizens so yes, the CHC advised you wrongly and you just wasted a lot of money on forms and medicals for 5 children. In that case, you should fill out the IMM 0008 again leaving the children out and send that with your name and address and date of birth to immigration stating that you have realized you have made this mistake etc. Also go to the high commission and apply for proof of citizenship for all the children. In fact, maybe do the latter first because if there is any reason why they might not be eligible for citizenship, they could probably tell you that right away in which case you could leave your application unchanged and apply for their PR instead.

Thanks for replying. If we apply for the kids citizenship now, is it likely to make the whole process longer, as we were expecting to get moved in time for the september school start, and need something to give potential schools. Also if we left the PR application as it is, will it make my principal applicant application void?

Adding to that, leaving the application as it is, with the kids on a PR app, would it cause difficulty in gaining their citizenship later after landing?

Like I said before, applying for proof of citizenship can take almost forever but if you do it with proof of travel, you can ask for it to be expedited and get it in a couple of months. Therefore, if you buy your tickets now, should be cheaper now anyway, you can have their citizenship cards very fast and no problems enroling them in school. If you leave your PR application the way it is, you risk that they start digging into if your children actually should be on it. They may be asking for more info, asking for the children to be removed from your application etc. That could take some time and make your application process longer. Adding to that, leaving the application as it is, with the kids on a PR app, would it cause difficulty in gaining their citizenship later after landing?
If they actually do not realize that the kids are already citizens and give them PR, your husband can apply for their citizenship later, either by heritage or apply for them as if they were immigrants. Children do not have to have lived in Canada for 3 years for an application to be made on their behalf if the parent applying is a citizen.
